Both teams have played in the same number of Super Bowls since Jerry took over btw. Honestly, Jimmy deserves the bulk of the credit for what they accomplished. Obviously, they haven't been able to replicate it since.

Moving forward I would rather have your ownership.
But looking back at the entire resume and history the Jones have easily outperformed the Allen’s.

Dallas had most of their success very early on. But since Paul Allen bought the team in 1997, the Hawks have been the much better team record wise. They are 252-196-1 since '97. The Cowboys are 240-209 during that span.

Since Jones bought the cowboys he’s outperformed all the Seattles owners combined.
I did say moving forward I would take your ownership

We actually had that back in the old days when Clint Murcheson (sp) owned the team. Never saw him or heard from him. He let Tex Schramm run the team and Tom Landry coach the team. His health went bad and he sold the team to Bum Bright who was a hateful Aggie that wanted Landry fired but Schramm kept that from happening

Then came Jerry…

I do miss ol’ Clint (not Tex though)

Yeah, the only time you ever saw Paul was when the broadcast would show him on screen. Otherwise, he never spoke or was in front of the cameras.

I'm really grateful for him because he completely changed the culture. They went a decade without making the playoffs.

He hired Mike Holmgren away from the Packers. Which was very significant. Then when the team needed another shakeup, he hired Carroll. He wasn't afraid to go after a big fish. Whatever it took.

The team will eventually be sold. That's the agreement as part of his estate. The team has to be sold at some point. So, I am a little worried as to who will buy it. The rumor is that Bezos wants it.

I'm really grateful for him because he completely changed the team's fortunes. He inherited a team that was kind of stuck in mediocrity for a while. They went a decade without making the playoffs.

Shortly after taking over, he hired Mike Holmgren away from the Packers. Which was very significant. Then when the team needed another shakeup, he hired Carroll. He wasn't afraid to go after a big fish. Whatever it took, was his mindset for the most part.

Well - whoever the new owner is… if he starts making noises about “jocks and socks”…

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Luck.

Luck except for the fact that he knew Jimmy from their time as teammates in Arkansas. Also the fact that Jimmy had won a National Title at Miami. Everyone knew Jimmy was a great coach so I wouldn’t exactly say it was luck. Jerry the owner also had to convince Jimmy to sign on as HC. Considering he targeted Jimmy to be his HC I wouldn’t call that luck.

Yeah, so Jerry got lucky because he knew Jimmy from college.

Obviously if it wasn't based on luck, the hiring process and decision making Jerry used to select the Dallas head coaches in the last 30 years would have at least resulted in a conference championship appearance.

I guess the same goes for Bob Kraft, the York Family, and the Mara’s. All just luck right.

So this rule you made up only applies to Jerry. Whatever fits your agenda I guess.

If an owner doesn't even come close to winning a SB for 90% of the time he's owned the team, then yeah, the single HC hire that got him there was probably just luck.

So in this rule that you made up, how many years must go by before YOU consider them lucky?
