Pistons Re-Sign Paul Reed, Waive Javante McCoy

The Detroit Pistons have re-signed Paul Reed after waiving him on Saturday and have waived Javante McCoy.


The Pistons had until Tuesday to reach the salary floor.


Detroit was able to reduce their salary cap obligations with their waive and then re-signing of Reed.

I thought there were rules about re-signing a guy right after you waive him? Is this one of those loopholes you can get away with because of using available cap space?

His contract was not fully guaranteed for this season, after his release he cleared the waiver period, therefore he is eligible to resign with his former club.

Maybe, but it's also true. The league has shown in many circumstances to still be punishing for The Process. Fines, forfeited draft picks, investigations, the Colangelos...
