I hate to say this wait for Jan 15th.

Trade Coby and Patrick for Zion

Giddey
Zach
Ayo
Zion
Vuc

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

If you're trying to win now, this is the exact type of move to make. It's a gutsy move that's potentially high risk, high reward.

I gotta say I don't hate the move. We are tripling down on injury prone guys, but a Zion/Zach (just realized the ZZ thing could be cool) pairing might work. I won't lose any sleep losing Coby and Pat in that deal. I'd even add in the elusive POR 1st.

Why would New Orleans trade Zion for White and Williams?

I've been a fan through thick and thin for 30 plus years. Do not break up this roster! We don't need a rebuild. Now, if one or two starters suffer season ending injuries, then that's a different story. If that happens then maybe you look to tank and rebuild through the draft.

We have young talent. We have competitive winners. This team is fun to watch, and I'd rather watch this roster than any other roster we've had in the last 5 or 6 years (sorry DeMar). I'm not ready to give up on anyone on this roster.

So this is how we improve and move forward to the point we can be competitive in the playoffs for the next few years. We need help with interior defense. Vuc and Williams starting together is a defensive nightmare. Some of the improvements might be internal where you switch lineups and play more bigs together. Team defense and coaching could improve with experience. We could make a trade for a defensive center or shot blocker.

The second way to improve is coaching and accountability for low percentage shot selection. We know Zach thinks he's MJ, but that's ok since confidence is important. We need every player to work on shot selection. The past pace offense is nice, but we can't continue having guys taking crazy shots from distance early in the shot clock with defenders in their face. Zach isn't the only guilty offender here. This team can improve. I'm exciting to see what can happen if everyone stays healthy.

The best ability is availability and clearly he ain’t doing that. Every season for the pelicans is a “if healthy one” gain return for two younger players.

I do not think any other first or second apron teams who are trying to compete will offer anything close to this as we are one of those few teams who need some type of consolidation.

Coby and Patrick fit the timeline of Jones/Murphy/Missi era who they are reportedly wanting to keep.

I could see AK keeping this team together for a playoff push. They get the 6th seed and go down in fun 7 game series.

At the draft when many more teams can make trades he unloads Zach, Vuc, and Coby. Probably gets two 1sts… both outside top 10.

Bulls resign Lonzo for cheap and have a ton of cap space. Try to add young talent and make the playoffs again.

It’s a bad plan. I hate it. But, it’s what I see AK doing. If we beat the Celtics again next game I think he will be convinced that we can make some noise in the playoffs with Giddey Zo and Pat all rounding into form as the year goes on.

Zion's contract the next 3 years is not guaranteed. If he can't actually get on the basketball court, I could see a scenario where New Orleans tries to blow it up and rebuild without him. In that event, rather than cutting him, it would make sense to trade him for young prospects.

I see your starting lineup and counter with...

Start: Ball, Ayo, LaVine, Craig, Vucevic

These are actually, probably, our 5 best players, and they fit together decently well too.

What if you rolled out

1 Giddey-Ball
2 Lavine-Ayo
3 Buzzelis-Terry
4 Williams-Phillips
5 Vuc-Smith

You know Buzy isn't ready but you just go with it.

Replace White with Lonzo (when available; Giddey when he isn't) and that is worth a shot.

I could live with that too. It is pretty telling that there are a few different lineups that could/should be starting versus the one the head coach insists on using.

If AK wants to win as much as possible this season, a good plan would be to fire AK

Bulls are now 2 games out of the 5 seed. If Miami loses (they are behind towards the end of q3) they will be 1.5 games out of the 6 seed with the 2nd easiest schedule left.

Why wouldn't anyone want to win as much as possible this season? Make a move to improve the team. Not tank it.

Pwill and Coby (and Craig) are the assets.

What kind of a "win-now" trade are you talking about?

You're also assuming that Indiana, Miami, Altanta and Milwaukee won't improve as the season goes on. Plus, Philly won't climb the standings (theyre 6-4 in their last 10 games).

Any starting quality PF with an inside presence.

I'm not assuming anything. I simply started facts and then asked a question.
