Can you tell me more about Duop? You’ve seen him more than me. MIN really only has one center on its roster, since Naz (and Luka Garza) have slimmed down to find minutes, expecting KAT to eat all the back up center minutes. Naz specifically is probably down from the pudgy 270 when he entered the league to 230, and he’s just a big wing. What MIN needs is a legitimate back up center who can play those minutes when Gobert rests, or misses games.
You saw Reath last year. Does he have enough overall game to play center in that role, on a possible contender? He doesn’t have to be great at anything, but he needs to be competent enough that he doesn’t always get attacked on both sides of the court. Is he a top 31-60 NBA center?
Nah, IMO. No disrespect meant to Reath, but he is basically a try-hard defensively who will log blocks, steals, and rebounds without being a real difference maker, and a guy who looks passable on offense only because he stays out of the way and just takes wide open shots -- an archetype which is likely unplayable in the postseason.
Other fans may have a different view. I admit I saw very little of him, but that was my impression.
