Serious clutch play by our Wiz heroes to come out with the L despite the Bucks' two best players out and them starting Wally World Ryan Rollins. Especially clutch to allow a Bobby Portis revenge game. Had me thinking back to the Scott Brooks glory years and seven point guard lineups.
Can't say I do. Who else gonna shoot?

Bilal has all the tools to be a top-10 player if he improves his shot.

Sarr has all the the tools to be a solid all-star player alá a healthy Porzingis.

Watched some of the games. Maybe I was unlucky, but I was watching when Poole was just chucking away. It looked disgusting

Anyone else have a cognitive disconnect with these two statements? Maybe add "on offense?"

Obviously, the whole team sucks defensively. I was just pointing the fact that specifically Bilal + Sarr are showing flashes of improvement in the last few games. Mainly offensively but also defensively (5 combined steals yesterday).

What did our defense have to do with this loss? Nothing.

They got to take 98 shots. We got to take 80 shots.
That's like starting the game down 20-0.

Take 9 shots away from them, & add 9 shots for us. We win.
We did have 11 more FTAs, but that's enough to make up the difference.

Why did they get to take 18 more shots than we did?
Because we turned the ball over 9 more times than they did.

I haven't looked at the stats. But it seemed like they sunk every 3 they took. This goes for most teams we play.

Great start to the game for Poole, then he disappeared and our chances
along with him....not to put it all on him. When he's hot, we suddenly
become a team that is a threat to win. It looked for a while early on
that he was going to drop 30+ on them.

Portis and MIddleton were outstanding for MIL.

I think Poole made 2 more threes right after I posted that & ended with 16 points in the first quarter. He had 10 more points the rest of the game. Definitely cooled down after a hot start.

Portis seemed to be open from three most of the game and he didn’t miss many chances until the end of the game.

Once you give a team 18 more shots than you get to take, you have no chance of winning. No one can defend well enough to overcome 18 extra shot attempts by the opponent.

At the league average TS%, 18 shots produces 20 points. OTOH, we did have 11 more FTAs than they did, which produced 7 more points than they got from the line. So, reduce that 20 point advantage our turnovers gave them to a net of 13 points.

We lost by 12 points. Thus, in short, if we hadn't turned the ball over 8 times more than they did, we'd have had a good chance of winning the game. We'd have been in it right to the end.

In any case, how do you measure defense? By looking at the opponent's scoring efficiency, obviously.

Hence, since we held them to a lower TS% than we registered, it looks like we defended them better than they defended us.
