Moritz Wagner Out for the Season with a Torn ACL in his Left Knee
Bummer.
Unfortunately, this could be the end of his Magic career depending on whether they need his contract to make salaries match in a trade.

My favorite player. Truly awful.
No way we trade Moe. That would be awful politics.

I love Moe, he's such a dynamic player to watch. I hope we don't trade him, he's been so good for us and his brother is here.
Not changing this Sig until the Orlando Magic win a championship (Technically Started 1-30-08)

Re: Moritz Wagner Out for the Season with a Torn ACL in his Left Knee
Unfortunately his contract now becomes the new D’Anthony Melton and likely will be used as a filler contract in an any upcoming trade.
Orlando was likely to decline his option regardless this summer just for flexibility, but this injury now makes it highly likely him getting moved this deadline.

didn't want to be insensitive last night but this was my second thought after being upset about yet another injury.

He will essentially be out most of all next season as well knowing how Orlando manages injuries.
His contract isn’t guaranteed next season as well.
It will suck and the optics wouldn’t look great, but capitalizing his expiring contract this trade deadline makes a lot of business sense.

they could trade him, knowing he'll get cut, and sign him in the summer. Business is business and if it works out that way, it'll be like he never left if we're being honest.

Played best year of his career and was massive boost off bench. This is big blow.

Yea, it really sucks all the way around but there’s some silver lining here.
This now gives Orlando another expiring contract, paired with Gary Harris Orlando can have almost 22M of expiring contracts.
Coincidentally, Cam Johnson makes exactly that (and rumor was Brooklyn wasn’t interested in taking any longterm money).

He's not being moved. Trading one of your team leaders and the brother of your team's 2nd best player is chemistry/player morale suicide. I see him likely to have his contract restructured
People immediately calling for a trade just love the thought of a trade.

Ehh, not at all. You need to remove emotion from this. Mo will understand and again his contract was likely going to be declined this summer regardless as we did this past summer.
Isaac was considered a cornerstone player at one point and is a generational defensive talent. It made a lot of sense to hold on to him. Mo not so much outside of the family ties.
Mo is likely out all of next season as well.

Re: Moritz Wagner Out for the Season with a Torn ACL in his Left Knee
Whelp, we will miss his offense.
WCJ and Goga as the only two rotation quality bigs actually helps clarify things.
I already thought we'd decline his option, this pretty much guarantees it.
His contract is valuable to a team looking to sell off their play-in odds or improve their cap sheet next season. He's a decent asset to use if we decide to be buyers.
I don't think his injury hurts our top line performance TBH.

A Awful news
B What morale, what chemistry - he is an expiring contract and wont play this season - trade him, cut him, whatever, he can come back and rehabilitate in Orlando anyway. Then he can sign new contract.
