1. Chet Holmgren (42.9% allowed at the rim)
2. Isaiah Stewart (43.6% allowed at the rim)
3. Victor Wembanyama (46.3% allowed at the rim)
4. PJ Washington (50.5% allowed at the rim)
5. Brook Lopez (51.0% allowed at the rim)
6. Amen Thompson (52.2% allowed at the rim)
7. Jarren Jackson Jr (52.5% allowed at the rim)
8. Jalen Williams (52.8% allowed at the rim)

10 games a bit of a low bar as we are 27-29 games in. Probably 20 games is a better barometer. If you thing availability matters. Or maybe use 700 minutes.

That makes absolutely no sense. Bigs don't win the award just because they're "big/tall." They win more often because they tend to be the player that anchors a team's defense. Plenty of big/tall guys in the NBA that are terrible on D

I agree. I hadn’t considered it before, but Nate Duncan last year explained that if the NBA made the All-Defense awards positionless, the first and second team would all be centers. Centers end up defending more times, and more types of players, and they defend at the rim, which is such a critical, high efficiency shot.

It’s very hard to have a good team defense if your center isn’t a good defender. I know, I watched too many years of a 7-foot KAT.

PJ Washington deserves an all defense shout. Having the 11th ranked defence with Luka kyrie klay as 3 of the starting 5 is impressive, and he’s been a huge influence in that.

Because the Lakers defense is complete ass, and Davis hasn't been moving the needle on that end.

To me, Lakers AD has always been more solid than spectacular in the regular season. He shines more in the playoffs. This season more than ever, he's been asked to do a lot on offense, and that's taken a toll on his defensive effort.

I never cared for AD enough to do a deep dive but his career regular season on floor per 100 being +1.4 as opposed to +4.2 in the playoffs backs up your analysis and is a good starting point into evaluating his career.

I think he’s as perfect as you can get in history as a third option. Pushing him into so many roles: co-lead creator/ secondary initiator/ post man/ main anchor/ leadership role will have wildly variable results from winning a bubble championship to just going through the motions. If there was ever a player probably too skilled for his own (and the team’s) good it’s AD. I grew tired of hearing how he was a PG in high schoo when his vision isn’t great, never been overly impressed with his screening.

I'm a huge UGA and Edwards fan, but the work that DD put on Ant-Man tonight was amazing!

OG should be a candidate. Dyson Daniels gets my vote for DPOY so far though

Dyson Daniels definitely my pick for DPOY right now. He's one of only a couple of guys in the league that I'll watch just because of their defense, and watching them lock up guys 1-on-1.

If I had a ballot for DPOY today, I'd probably go:

1. Evan Mobley
2. Dyson Daniels
3. Victor Wembanyama
4. Rudy Gobert
5. Jalen Williams

guys I want to squeeze onto the ballot: OG Anunoby, one of the Rockets wings, Jaren Jackson Jr., Jalen Suggs, Zubac, someone else from OKC, some kind of Celtic.

Hard to say who but somebody from OKC needs to make the first team. Probably Dub.
