Look I don't want to get too crazy here. Let me preface this by saying that no one will ever be Lowry, and that expecting Shead to become even half as good overall as Lowry might be too much. Lowry entered the NBA after his sophomore year, and Shead came out as a senior.

But...watch these highlights of Lowry from Villanova and compare them to Shead's highlights from Houston the past couple of years, and I see a lot of similarities in terms of how they attack on the offensive end, and their aggressiveness on defence.

DreamTeam09 wrote:The way how you guys operate with players is really like 2k mode lol. If Shead is making Davion expendable, that literally means if we draft another PG next yr and 3 games in he looks good does that make Shead expendable too. When does the cycle end, it's literally picking favs as some believe Davion isn't good as is(which would be wrong) or he can't improve because of age lol smh. We have both players both are playing well, davions next deal will be somewhere above the baE and below the MLE

It's absolutely crazy how RGM pits players against each other so needlessly. The Raps finally have some promising young PG depth and we're talking about getting rid of a piece... AFTER we've all seen years of successful small-guard lineups that emphasized strong D and smart play.

If I'm Darko, I'm salivating at the flexibility of having a shooter like IQ lining up with one of those guys, maybe even both against small-ball lineups w/ fast guards.

As for Jamal, like others I'm super excited by how good he's been and even how good his offensive contribution has been despite the shooting limitations. Bright future.

I hope they are working with Shead to limit his reach in fouls. It seems like a given he's going to get an unnecessary reach-in foul his first or second possession on defense. Anyone else notice that? He seems over-aggressive most of the time. He's fairly quick. I'd like to see him use his feet more than reaching like he often does.

I'd still like to see all of the draft picks and Battle rotate through the 905 so they can do things which, objectively, they are restrained from doing with the Raptors. That includes building up their offence, because only Battle has a major league three point tool.

If Shead develops an average 3pt shot, then he would be a crazy steal and Lowry 2.0. It took Lowry until age 24 to start but he was more ready. Give Shead a few years to get used to the NBA 3pt line distance as his form looks fine.

Encouraging to see him hitting his 3s the past two games. Shot doesn't look as flat as it did earlier in the year.

He's got a quick trigger too.
The good thing about BI is he can shoot over defenders.
The bad thing about BI is he can shoot over defenders.

Shead with 11 points, 10 assists (3tos), 6 rebs, 3 steals and 1 block (on a 3pt attempt by 6'11 Jabari Smith Jr! )

He outplayed FVV and on the season is shooting better from 3 than FVV. :o

Davion Mitchell is traded by the deadline.

I get FVV/Lowry vibes from Shead. Obviously a ways to go and the chances of him being as good as either of those guys are slim. However, he does share some of their positive traits. Real chance he develops into a capable backup point guard.

I like the depth Davion gives us and he'll probably resign for peanuts. But will he be okay becoming a 3rd PG slowly as Shead takes it from him?

Probably not.

Walter, Shead, Mogbo and Chomche. This was just such a homeun draft from this FO.

And again, cherry on top was the undrafted Battle

To me Shead has already shown he can take all of Davion's mins and Jakobe can be a PG/SG and Ochai is a POA defender so Davion is redundant. Might be more well suited on say a Charlotte or New Orleans that could use his defense.

Weird, I was told Shead is trash & not an NBA player by reactionary poster(s), almost like rookies develop! Wild concept

Since day 1 I've been saying that Davion is expendable. Saw it with Marcus Sasser in Detroit but now his stock is to high.

Shead shot 44.4% from 3 in December.

On the season he is now shooting 33.9%. (5th on the team among players who have played 20 games.or.more). Higher than Mitchell. Higher than Scottie.

Matches the eye test. He has been playing very well. He is also the non-two way that seems to get sent down to the 905 the most. I don't think his improvement is a coincidence. He is getting developed properly & when he gets sent down, he works hard & plays hard.

The last 3 games, Shead has only missed one 3, because it was blocked tonight!!!

Trade Davion yesterday please. Let Jakobe develop into a combo guard.

He may not be better than Kyle. He will be better than Fred. I don't recall one drive into 3 taller players. Not one.
