Wizards Believed To Be 'Eager' To Trade Kyle Kuzma By Deadline

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Dec 23, 2024 2:53 am

The Washington Wizards are believed to be "eager" to trade Kyle Kuzma ahead of the February 6th trade deadline. The Wizards could have traded Kuzma to the Dallas Mavericks at last season's deadline, but he preferred to remain with the franchise. The Wizards are considered unlikely to repeat the same tactic.

Kuzma, who is represented by Austin Brown, is signed through the 26-27 season on a four-year, $90 million deal that descends annually and drops to $19.4 million as an expiring.

Kuzma is averaging 15.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 27.5 minutes over 12 games in his 29-year-old season.

The problem with Kuzma is he thinks he is better than he actually is which would cause problems if he can't accept a role.. If you were to trade for kuzma you would have to be confident about him being able to accept that he is a role player.

he has missed almost half the season.

lowest shooting percentage of his career.

lowest PPG since he was the 4th option in LA behind Lebron/AD/Schroeder (sometimes even 5th behind Trez -- who scored more)

Who is lining up for this guy?

I think it's important to also add that he was never good, is not a good locker room presence, and is clearly about the lifestyle and nothing else...

Paying this guy was always a moronic decision.

I think he knows that a team with him as 1a or 1b has no shot at being competitive. He is aware of, and has fully embraced his tank commander status. That doesn't men he can't be worth his contract on a team that needs a PF and a 4th option. (I'm looking at you, PHI!)

I just don't know if he really knows he is number 4 possibly 5. I think he would rather be 1 2 3 on a tank commander team and just take lots of shots..

You might be right, but eventually that option will be gone. The idea of letting a middling player go hog wild like this is to build their trade value while not producing wins. If his trade value goes down instead of up his role will ultimately be changed. Unfortunately, WAS doesn't have anyone to fill that void yet.
