Re: Official Scottie All Star Barnes Thread 8
So yeah, he's not healthy and drawing anything from these past 2 games aside from "something is up with the medical staff given all the injuries and Scottie is being told to take more 3s when he shouldn't" is meaningless.
I get wanting that extra 5% of the cap but FFS it's your body, listen to it.

It was an off shooting night and his explosiveness is being hampered by physical limitations due to lingering injuries.
He's only playing because they still have to get fans through the gate and he's the franchise guy, even when he plays bad.

I know, and since we are on the Barnes thread, I am assuming the style of the C should work with Barnes.
However, the stretch C isn't working well from the look of it.
I don’t think Barnes is healthy so I’m not putting a lot of weight on these first few games since he’s come back. I honestly think he shouldn’t even be playing right now.
Maybe not 100%, but his jump from it is at least 80%?
We can give him a week, but more like he couldn't do it without another good scorer. Time will tell.

I’m not gonna speculate on what percentage healthy he is. Rajakovic said his ankle and hip are still bothering him. He isn’t jumping or moving his feet as well as he normally does. He also takes that goggle off and on trying to fix his shot, I’m thinking his eye is still bothering him too.

Healthy or not healthy Scottie Barnes shouldn't be your franchise guy. We still need 2 guys better than him on this team if we're actually serious about winning.

-His development was stunted by like 2 years, because of guys like Pascal, Fred and Nurse.
-Then a large chunk of last season
-Missed training camp, and injured twice this season.
Give him some time to catch up.

They are clearly trying to do that by tanking for this next draft. I am also 99% sure they will not move either of the 2026 first rounders. Masai has let slip a couple of comments that lead me to believe he knows what he has in Scottie. Excellent player who is the franchise player for now. I don't think he's under any illusion that Barnes can be the top guy on a contender, which I think we also casually throw around that term like so many other teams have that. We are talking what, like 5-6 guys?

It's a little much to be blaming everyone else other than the player for their short comings.

If Darko is right then why did he play Scottie for 39 minutes, the most minutes of any player on both teams, including almost the entire 4th Q (but for 1 min)? HOU is a Top-5 team, a scheduled loss for all intents & purposes. So why risk further injury playing him so many minutes, especially in the 4th Q when he's more tired hence increased risk of re-injury?
Something is amiss because If Darko is right, then he's also negligent.

Re: Official Scottie All Star Barnes Thread 8
I love Scottie. The injuries don't bother me.
I love the defense when he's dialed in.
The offense this year looks good when he is passing the ball.
He has been really inconsistent in getting to the basket.
A lot of people complain about RJ when it comes to Hero Ball. Are they watching all of Scotties guarded pull up threes that only look good when they go in?
We have an offense and run a system and Scottie hasn't been looking to run it these past few games.
If you're injured or not feeling right why not rely on the system more? Why focus on all these ineffective pull up shots?
I don't get the thinking or the process, nor do I get all the hate RJ gets while Scottie just gets a pass.

The offense is just worse when Scottie is on the floor. It's been magnified with his own bad performances these last 2 games but it's been true throughout the season. It's just weird to see all the cutting and ball movement lessen with Scottie on the floor. When he's off they play better Darkoball. Of course, the defense falls off when he's off as well.

Alright, a couple of bad games. Lets see if he can get back on track. The key to Barnes is always his activity. He's typically all over the place on defense and that's where he expends his most energy. It's strange not seeing him fight for boards under the basket, so that's my main criticism for the last two games. That's not Barnes. On offense, need him to get back to how he was playing right before both injuries.
By season's end, I expect he would have gotten into a rhythm on offense and controlling the team like he was before his injuries.

Who do you think was more important to the Warriors dynasty Draymond or Klay?

This is what sells it to me that he’s clearly not even close to 100%. The guy has been a triple-double threat this season and he had as many rebounds in Q4 last night (6 which was inflated by some of his own misses and outbacks) as he did in the previous 7 quarters combined since returning while the majority of his attempts have been long jumpers. The last two games he has been playing very laid back for 90% of the time he’s on the floor — and that’s something we’ve rarely seen from him since early in his sophomore season when he was in his own head a bit.
That being said, there is absolutely no reason to play him nearly 40 minutes when he’s clearly not himself and struggling to do the things we expect him to do. I get that he’s the franchise guy, but I think most fans would prefer to see him heal up properly and be at his best than see that version of Scottie.

Why the heck did Scottie shoot the 1st half tech when Gradey is on the floor?

Looks like a different player when playing with rj.
Are we gonna question how good he is because he doesn't play well without decent teammates or a second star? No. Because thats stupid.

Looks like a different player in a higher profile game where all-nba voters will be watching
I don't blame him for going for that extra money. He's doing the right thing in these circumstances.
