he and Biid are a bad fit imo.

He doesn't get his shot off quick enough and is attackable in space. Made more sense with McCain but right now with Oubre or Martin is just junks up the paint too much

Thats why Windy was suggesting a height limit for the refs. IYKYK.

While we’re at it, we need to replace Kate Scott.

The answer from players/fans will be “then don’t have female refs”, Udonis. They don’t get special treatment when reffing NBA games.

This is the craziest **** I've ever heard. You're 100% right, don't have lady refs if there is a special standard. Obviously, I don't think the gender of a ref matters at all but that also means they are going to receive backlash and criticism from fans and players just the same too.

I’m more pointing out the discussion of her getting preferential treatment is absurd. I’m sure the actual ref doesn’t want to be treated differently. The halftime talking heads were doing more of a disservice to the female ref discussion than the actual ref who was blowing the game. Male refs blow games all the time and have stars screaming in their faces because of it. It’s just a part of the game.

Kate > Alaa, by a pretty big margin. And I don't particularly like Kate.

Thanks to these sleepless nights being tortured by Sixers games, most guys would book a session with a psychiatrist. Not me—I went to see a shaman over the weekend. After hearing my story, he looked me dead in the eye and said, “The curse won’t be broken until you replace Kate Scott.”

What, are dudes reclaiming the word “incel”?

My take:
- That was not a charge.
- Joel’s reaction to the call deserved an ejection. Has nothing to do with a gender standard, it was just over the top.

It makes Embiid look incredibly foolish acting like that tonight. The fact that the ref was a woman shouldn't matter in the equality world that we're supposed to live in, but this is still not a good look for Jo because it just puts more negative spotlight on an already crappy season. People are calling him soft, a flopper, fake tough guy, and angrily jawing back at a female ref and acting all aggressive like he's gonna square off with her is just a fitting and awful look for him, and it gives his haters fuel. Bad fkkng look for him tonight and as much as we all want to play on a level field and be all equal, we're not...The ref was a female and Jo still needs to conduct himself as an adult.
These are clearly frustrations building within him and it's going to continue until gets a hold on it. I'm not suggesting he takes the year off to get right, but he's got to work through this living nightmare of a season. We're 10-17, we're starting to win games, it's still early, but we need him.

Yep, I was agreeing with you fully even though my comments might have been a little scattershot. The ref was pulling the trigger way too quickly but that happens. The commentary is crazy though. White knighting as if she can't receive blowback from a player because of her gender is crazy work.

I get the original call. Wemby is moving, but it's probably unnecessary level of physical contact ("sold by" Wemby). Probably goes against Jo 80% of the time there.

I don't find this year's Embiid to be hilarious though. This isn't normal, fun loving Jo. Dude is angry.

Ridiculous game by that ref. Bad that she would throw him out in the first place instead of the normal 1 tech and let him jaw some more (although we don't know what exactly was said). But that's an even more ridiculous reaction by him. Dude is in a bad spot mentally.

He gets flamed for everything he does. It's so annoying how toxic the discourse is around anything Embiid does or says. Everything he does gets spun around to something negative. Dude wanted to represent USA in the Olympics because he feels that he identifies as an American, and somehow that was spun into a negative. I truly feel for him

He has had the worst possible two years. He has openly admitted he's depressed. Absolutely he's in a bad spot. You won't find many people in his situation who aren't angry. It's one thing if things happen that are in his control. But when things happen that are out of his control, it's a completely human reaction to have some of the responses he's had.

"Wemby is moving". Taking a charge has never required a person to be stationary. Manu Ginobili once took a charge with zero feet on the ground.

You have to establish legal guarding position, which Wemby does at the start of 0:08 in the video below. You have to maintain legal guarding position, which he does. You can move and still maintain legal guarding position - as long as you stay in front of the offense. Embiid hits him square in the chest. Wemby didn't need to sell anything. Embiid knocked him over - so much so that by the end of the play, Embiid has moved completely through the spot where Wemby was. If that wasn't a charge, the charge call might as well not exist. (Though in the NBA, it sometimes seems like it doesn't exist anyway.)

Terrible look for Embiid and there is no excuse for it. Embiid has been in the league 11 years. You have to keep your emotions in check.

He is still immature and some people just can’t change who they are no matter how hard they may try. Then he cowards out and doesn’t even speak to the media afterwards. He knows it was a bad look.
