Cole added a valuable contribution. 5 TOs hurt but he added some much needed offense with 10 points and 5 assists.

Box score thoughts.

Orlando won the FG% battle and won the game.

And literally this is why the Magic won.
39.4% with the three ball and defend to 25%.

21-21 from the charity stripe. WOW.

Nothing else to comment on.

The graphic says Cole was negative on offense and defense. He's down in the doghouse quadrant.

Edit: two-way impact players are in the upper right quadrant, defenders in the upper left, offensive players in the bottom right, stinkers in the bottom left.

Cole had 10 points on essentially 10 shots (9 field goals, but 2 free throws roughly equals a shot).

And 5 turnovers + 5 fouls. That will never equate to a positive rating for a game, but I agree he did have some timely buckets and I thought the offensive flow was a little better when they played 2 ball-handlers instead of only Suggs+ wings.

Our identity is set, with being a pesky physical defensive minded hard working team, whoever we bring in, needs to match that identity.

Thats why we can lose key players and still put in wins.

Ceruti said it on twitter, nobody has a more clear cut identity than Orlando Magic.
Dont trade Suggs

One thing this image shows is that Carter deserves the mittens over Suggs as the Magic's third best player.

i meant like complaining to the media after the game. Ive seen Paolo mention something like "i thought the refs could've done a better job, but its on us..." maybe like once or twice, but its rare he ever mentions them at all and the team as a whole complains much less than most winning teams.

I think both Wagners and Suggs complain more than PB.

in game yeah they all complain and im okay with it as long as it doesnt hurt their team on defense.

Yeah Im with SOUL's observation on this. Although it's only on my screen and not live, I already see a lot of whining to the refs during games.

As someone who has reffed basketball games before, I'll give my side of the story as a ref

When players and coaches complained to me, it'd be irritating especially when they implied I was one sided on calls when I didnt have ties with any of the schools and only cared about calling it the same way on both ends of the court, keeping everyone safe & not allowing constant chippiness back and forth that escalates to flagarants/fights. There was an allowable amount of physicality I permissed.

However, sometimes when being complained to about for specific kinda calls, like a player pulling on another player's jersey discretly, or a 3 sec violation, I'd catch myself either consciously or subconsciously looking for the violation more

Thats how humans work, players complain because it can be effective over the course of a game, regardless of the referee realizing it or not

A Celtics fan made a whole video crying about the refs during the Magic game.

The Boston announcers called the Magic the most physical team in the league. I remember that Pat Riley quote saying something like “just keep fouling every time and the refs eventually stop calling them”. We are in peoples faces over and over and they cant stand it.

Teams hate to play us because we guard closely and try to deny passes for the entire game. Fans see a team not giving their players space to operate as fouls. Queen has given us another player the last 2 games who guards his man closely.

As a fan, I hate when teams guard us like that.

Yes, now do one for the fouls that the Celtics got away with.

Go Magic, Go Dwight, Go Vuc, Go Paolo, Go Keegan :)
