So Embiid pulled the 'whoops I seemed to have accidentally lost my balance and stumble' throwing himself into a player's legs again?

That's how he injured Mitch in the playoffs, not the leg pull play which could have injured him but it was shortly after he 'stumbles' and throws himself into Mitch's legs landing with his full weight on his ankle causing the injury.

This is something he has done many times in his career, he is always 'accidentally' falling onto, into, landing on, stepping on, swinging his arms into, slapping people's faces and heads, jerking arms, hammering limbs and so on.

Always under the guise of 'whoops' it was accidental, how could he have known? No not on purpose even though it's a constant through his career, he's just clumsy I suppose and injuring players is sad but an accident, really.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

I generally agree with what you are saying but I'd still give them some time. I mean we were pretty successful in december and January last year with Mitch/Hart at C and Randle at the 4 and OG at the 3. I think OG/Randle/Hart (Mitch) is comparable to McDaniels/Randle/Gobert so I think there is still some opportunity there.

Next to the spacing issues they also have Conley and DD not shooting well. They have many issues right now. I still think they are gonna be better than what they are right now.

Mitch never played with OG/Randle. Mitch went down December 5th. We were successful after the OG trade but, prior to that we 17-15.

I don't need to give them time. I have seen Randle play for 5 years. He is what he is. That team is in trouble if they try to win with him as a main piece. It doesn't fit right now and it probably never will. They may be better than .500 but, probably not much. 48 wins and a first round exit is their ceiling.

Basically the difference in opinion on Randle between us is miniscule. I agree on their current ceiling being 48wins and first round (maybe if Edwards has a Jordan-like series they could pull out a first round 7 game series.). So there is that.

I do however disagree with a general black and white sentiment that implies that any basketball team is better without Randle. I myself never liked playing with guys like Randle because ball movement was an element I always thought was most important on the basketball court. I do however think Randle can contribute---like he did in december and january to a winning team in a major way. Definitely not as a first option--maybe not even as a clear cut second option, but definitely as a good contributor. I do however think the team around him has to minimize his weaknesses and needs to be build in a certain way. Randle with a Mitch-Gobert type Center will always be an iffy fit. He needs a rim protector next to him that is a solid shooter (think Myles Turner type) as well. These type of players are still rare. Then the other thing is that he shouldn't be a primary or even secondary ball handler or shot creator on your team. Unfortunately his ego demands a role that he is not really suited for and he seemingly is not going to self-reflect and correct that and that will be his ultimate downfall.

But overall I'm happy not to have to worry about Randle and his antics anymore. I'm just totally enjoying our quick smart passing, good decision-making team and selfless play. There is no I-need-to-get-my-numbers type of guy that sacrifices team play for stats. Everyone seems truly most willing to have an off night on offense and score only 10points while feeding the hot hands. Just great character guys that know their roles and accept things. It is always so much more enjoyable to see high IQ basketball.

I'm really thankful for what Leon and his team built here. Just so crazy to think where the Knicks were prior to the pandemic season.

Merry christmas everyone.

Yeah. We see things the same but, I'm over the top all in on the Randle slander. He actually CAN do things like play defense and share the ball. He just doesn't. My biggest issue outside of not liking his overall game was the fact the he just didn't commit the effort it takes to be his best version and play winning basketball. It was all about him and he ain't all that when he lollygags around the court like he rest of the team does the dirty work for him. He IS capable. His effort is the stuff quitters are made of. It was every other year with him. Then the best ball he ever played for us lasted a month and he wanted the max because of it.

He's gone and, I honestly don't care about any of this anymore. We have KAT/Brunson and an amazing surrounding cast of talent. This thread brings out he venom in me. ! I'm over it. We have a special group of players here right now. I am more interested in them than hating this bum. I just had to release some pent up frustration in here. I will no longer visit this thread. It's too toxic!

Merry Christmas brother. LFGK

FWIW, the poster of that quote chopped it up and it changes the meaning pretty drastically.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/43137372/warriors-jonathan-kuminga-responds-steve-kerr-criticism-best-game-season-loss-pacers

"Sometimes I start, sometimes I don't start," Kuminga said. "Don't really affect me. [At] this point in my career, I can't put my head down and not go out there and play hard or try to be effective. I just go out there and do my job because I can't even worry about things like that. The more you worry about things like that, the more you fail."

"I'm used to it," Kuminga added of starting and not starting. "From where I come from, you always got to be mentally tough. A lot of people that are playing ... if they were in my shoes, they'll quit basketball. They'll need a therapist. They'll go through a lot of mental situations. But that thing don't affect me. As long as I go out here every day and just play, be with my teammates, [they] keep encouraging me to be who I am every day."

The actual hardship he's talking about is war in his home country and basically saying this stuff doesn't affect him because that's what he's come up through. A bit dramatic but he's not calling Kerr the hardship.

Embiid is one of the primary examples of the decline of the NBA

During the NBA's rough and tumble hey day, Embiid would have gotten his nose broken by Daryl Dawkins or Moses Malone.

But now the league condones players like Embiid getting a free pass as long as they are considered a marquee player and it will hypocritically jeopardize a player's career if they retaliate.

Right. Stuff like this is a turn off.

If Embiid just played basketball straight up, there wouldn't be a problem. He's a flopper, fine. But all that trying to injure dudes stuff is inexcusable. He should have been suspended by the league for what he did to Mitch.

This is Adam Silver's NBA.

Why are Sixers in the damn Christmas card? What have they done?

I mean we have good team + NY, Spurs have the biggest young star, Dallas has Luka and they were in the finals, Celtics are champs, Lakers is LA and has LeBron, Warriors most recent dynasty and has Steph, Nuggets has the best player in the world. Only Suns are the other big questionable selection but even they got KD.

Why are Sixers playing today?

Hate both these teams but tbh I'm a maxey and brown fan so I'm rooting for a natural disaster to strike Boston. Cause I don't like em that much.

Curious how the top 3 will look like. Cavs really holding onto 1st Seed? Knicks only 2 games back of Boston. Real chance to catchup?

Return to New York Knicks
