DDR to OKC
SAC out: Demar DeRozan, Keon Ellis
SAC in: Aaron Wiggins, Ousmane Dieng, Dillon Jones
Kings get a little younger and get some upside without throwing in the towel. Also cut significant future salary.
OKC out: Aaron Wiggins, Ousmane Dieng, Dillon Jones
OKC in: Demar DeRozan, Keon Ellis
Thunder cash in youth and upside for one of the most proven scorers in the NBA, even if he’s on the downswing.
The structure of the contract doesn’t hurt them too much, and Ellis is a nice rotation piece. A lot relying on thinking Demar can still be high level the next two years.

Re: DDR to OKC
Sac probably looks for a third team to take Dieng/Jones for a win now piece. But they can do that later/added. Even if they have to add a bit of value on top of the young duo..
I think this works for OKC. Demar gets a smaller role than he is used to and likely gets dumped as an expiring to avoid paying that heavy tax but definitely seems worth it for the next 20 months.

I dont think this is fair value for the Kings but I like Keon more than most.

Re: DDR to OKC
If OKC does their trade, and Brooklyn accepts Dieng+Jones for DFS (and seconds if you need).. Does OKC take DFS and cut Sac out? Or does Sac get to end up adding two 2-way wings without tying up future picks..
Or if Sac is willing to add Huerter and their 2027 first for Cam?
Or Huerter and ?? for Jerami Grant.. etc..
I like Wiggins a lot for Sac, but would be flipping the unproven youth of OKC to a team further away..

Re: DDR to OKC
Would love the trade, would probably throw in a first from OKC end as well.
DDR give us scoring plus some playmaking and keon give us more depth.

Re: DDR to OKC
This is a bad trade for OKC. Derozan cannot share the court with SGA and/or Caruso in a playoff setting. Aaron Wiggins is a good wing defender that has been hitting the 3 well. They already are an average to below average team from 3. I don't understand how this helps OKC in a playoff setting, especially once you get to a conference finals.

OKC has the needs below at the minimum.
Given our movable salary and our needs , DDR fill up 2 of them and he will keep us afloat in the non SGA minutes where Jalen Williams need some help.
Deal only works if DDR willing come off bench obviously.
Needs
- scoring
- 3 point shooting
- ballhandler
- backup big

Re: DDR to OKC
As a Bulls fan, I can say that DDR seemed to be a great person, good teammate and productive player. That said, his play style really ends up hurting his teammates. He holds the ball too long, isn't good off ball and isn't a good team defender. OKC should stay far away.

Re: DDR to OKC
In the playoffs Derozan is not trying to contribute only when SGA is tired. Whom will be playing big MVP level minutes. Otherwise he can't share the court with him and add value to what the team needs in a playoff setting. Ownership/management has to justify paying a guy 25M a year for the next 2.5 seasons to be an insurance player. The Kings have also gotten worse from adding him.

Agree with this. There are contexts in which I like DeRozan, but OKC is not one of them.

Presti is too smart to trade for the guy who is killing his current team.

Re: DDR to OKC
DDR is basically washed at this point… this trade reminds me of the Gordon Hayward deal from last year. Okc is better off taking a swing at a bigger target if they plan on cashing in assets

That’s a reasonable take . Guess OKC need to look elsewhere .
