Once Butler is gone and a third piece is added, the Heat will add high quality vets. Until the Butler deal happens everything is on hold unless a moves give flexibility. I wouldn’t be surprised if if Heat have talked to Love about his future

That’ll be funny if so because we relied more on undrafted bums in the Jimmy era than high quality vets lol

There’s almost no market for Jimmy at that price.

So his agent has to play games to either create a market or at least the illusion of there being one

Mia understands that as of now they’d be negotiating against themselves by succumbing to his number

All theater

Teams willing to trade for him sound like they are willing to pay him what he wants. He don’t have to play nice anymore.

Warriors n Suns have no cap space.

If this goes into the offseason and Jimmy opts out, there’s virtually no teams other than Brooklyn who can pay him. Maybe Hou if they shuffle around pieces.

I’m not convinced that when it’s all said n done that Jimmy would opt out.

Could Clippers be the outlet Bradley Beal?

I said this last summer, getting Butler to want out is the easiest way to find a way to get the team out of the tax/repeater tax next year and making the FO not be the bad guys since now they're just finding expiring's and some asset(s) because Butler "wanted" to leave, don't look past that at why he's wanting to leave with how Riley went after him at the end of year conference.

Oh he would most likely opt in and probably never play for us ever again while he quietly holds out with some made up injury until he’s traded for basically nothing and the Heat FO is smeared with every NBA free agent or potential trade target into the ground.

Just to get on record, if he's amenable at all to changing his mind and accepting an extension I would offer it. I know that's not popular with some fans because of his age and cap ramifications, but as a true homer I would personally prefer to take care of the guy that chose to come here without a co-star. It's rare in today's league a player chooses a destination without an established star to run with it, or with the pieces in place to acquire said star.

That said, if you have to move him my preference is to get pieces in return they could turn into a star. Fox and Zion (health risk) would be at the top of my list.

There is no outlet for Beal. Suns are stuck with that NTC

Miami needs to have some roadmap of adding a new top 20 guy (top 10 would obviously be better), without it you're looking at the middle until that type of player pushes to end up in Miami which could be many years from now.

They probably want to drastically lower the tax bill this year if Butler heads out. That means finding a team that can take back money in this process.

Miami has built quite the team on mid first draft picks.

Theyve also swung and missed on every trade target.

The problem theyve created of wanting to spend all your assets on a target then having to pay them is an archaic way of thinking they need to remedy.

Doubt it

Then he’d for sure not get paid anything close to the max the following year

Whatever it is it promises to get very ugly if not played right. As of now the Heat FO is teetering on the cusp

Return to Miami Heat
