Re: 2024-25 Regular Season Thread Vol. 2
Curious to see if with Jimmy rumors swirling, some players try to make their way down to Miami. There will be a void to be filled and there will be a good amount of assets moving around. I think it’ll likely be a multi team deal if it goes down.

You probably won't, but what you're not understanding is that you won't get to use that free'd up money, Miami's not just in the tax but the 1st apron, the FO has to get under the tax for the next 2 years. It's quite possible Miami doesn't move Butler and lets him walk for nothing and doesn't really add anyone, and it's possible the roster you see now without Butler is the same one you'll be seeing for the next 2 seasons (minus Rozier after next season).
Oh, I understand that. Youre just not understanding that I understand;)
I want freedom to make trades and not be stuck up against some 5th apron having to have the pennies matching perfectly.

Get assets for Fox and yes, take the Zion gamble. If it pays off its franchise altering.

What trades? You're going to have Bam and Herro at the max, that's your future. By the way, in the last half decade, how many trades has Miami really made that were substantial like you're expecting? I look around and really see none, just trades for vets past their prime so they're cheap asset wise although I have no idea what they were thinking about trading a 1st for Rozier.

I’m growing to the idea of keeping Kuminga and seeing what his restricted free agent market is. He might end up thriving here next to Bam. Kuminga and Jovic could form a decent young PF duo. We can trade Payton, J Rich, and Looney all expiring's for another useful piece.

Give me the Warriors deal. We get Wiggins who would fit in perfectly as an athletic 3&D wing, and we get draft pic compensation.

Duncan

Trade Rozier for Lonzo and a draft pick, and have a potential lineup of:
Ball
Herro
Wiggins
Bam
Ware
I like Lonzo. Think his career could have a Shawn Livingston arc. Adding him to a team that has Jimmy in its lineup would mercifully take some of the handling responsibilities off of the rest of the group when Jimmy is off the floor
I’ve got zero interest in the GS package though

Do we really fault the Heat for missing out on Lillard?
The Blazers were dug in and stubborn about trading him to Miami after his agent backed them into a corner.
IF the Heat offered Herro for Lillard, that was more than fair for Portland.

Yeah it will be a multiple team trade especially if expiring’s are involved.

Well said by Shams.
We had the opportunity to get Kyrie when his stock was at an all time low because of his scandal, but we passed him up, (he ends up still producing at a high level and making the Finals)
We weren’t able to close the deal for Lillard after him strong arming the Blazers demanding only US, like cmon.
We couldn’t get KD, because of lack of assets understandable.
And we could have gotten Bradley Beal to add to this current core of Jimmy, Bam, and Tyler, but we wanted him to waive his no trade clause first?? Really?? Straight up incompetence.
I don’t blame Jimmy, at all the front office really dropped the ball in the Jimmy Era, I hope we learn from this and do better moving forward, in this next phase of the Bam Tyler Herro build.
You were not getting Beal without giving up Herro.
Beal said he called Miami up to say he'd come to Miami and Miami never got back with him or Washington. I think they could have gotten him quite cheaply since Phoenix got him for cheap.
Bingo!

Another pea brain who isn’t capable of playing on the ball
I’m good on Kuminga
The team needs to focus on finding its star not prioritizing building a roster full of Titos

Yes. You have a top 15 player in the world wanting only your team and fills the biggest need on your team while you’re coming fresh off a finals trip. A good front office is navigating the nonsense and finding a way to get that done.

This is just in the mean time. Rome isn’t going to be built in a day and the haul for Butler isn’t going to be earth shattering for us to be in a position to be real picky

No blame on the front office at all. Blazers front office Cronin did not trade Lillard to us out of spite. They failed to do right by Damian after him being loyal to them all those years, so there was nothing we could do about that.
It just sucks because ultimately even though we had no control over it, the fact of the matter is we struck out AGAIN.
How many has it been?, Giannis, Harden, Kyrie, KD, Beal, etc…

Lol cmon here we fking good. They want draft picks for the guy who got a damn knee transplant?? Sigh…
Hopefully the market is not that good for Lonzo, because I want him in a Heat uniform.
Like Beernie said, he could have a Shaun Livingston Golden State arc with us.

Takes playing time away from Jovic, Jaquez, Keshan etc
If Mia is going young, they should commit, no?
Kuminga also gonna be expensive. Why pay someone like that to end up in the lottery anyways
