I bet your trade didn’t include NYK sending MIN DiVincenzo and a protected 1st.

Maybe don’t publicly pat yourself on the back.

Donte was a MLE signing who is average at best off the bench (where he would be playing in NY). That first is negligible.

Not sure why you guys are so salty lol.. I’m not even patting myself on the back at all. I’m quite clearly saying the Knicks made out with both players in far better deals than the one I posted that was laughed at. What’s so hard to understand about that? Not even sure how this is debatable, but I’ll leave you guys to it. Merry Christmas :D

Merry Christmas of course.

But it’s so weird to double down. Every NYK fan should be happy with the KAT trade, but that’s not what you’re saying here..

You offered Randle for KAT. Minnesota got DDV and a first added in.

NYK still won the trade obviously. But it was better for Minnesota than your suggestion. A DDV and a first better.

And Brooklyn got 5 firsts and a swap for Bridges. That’s a lot more than anyone expected Bridges or KAT worth that much. So Brooklyn did much better than you suggested.

- DDV has been horrible and it's inexplicable
- McDaniels had flaws being hidden by KAT, he has not stepped up to be the factor that was expected.

Randle has been Randle honestly, Minny got what they expected.

DDV struggles are because his role changed. We wanted him to play PG and run the offense. His handle is certainly good enough to do it, but his shooting is nowhere near as effective when he isn’t catching and shooting. When his shot doesn’t drop DDV loses confidence, which feeds back into his shooting and defense. Also, DDV is a rhythm player, and they tend to do better with more minutes. Naz is the same way, (his numbers go way up when he starts and plays 30 minutes, way more than expected gains from extend play time.)

Jaden is not a corner 3 point specialist. We use him that way because our HC doesn’t like to run an offense. He likes an organized chaos. Jaden is much better attacking off the dribble than he is catch and shooting. Randle and Ant both like ISO scoring and are both ball dominant. When they play together most of Jaden’s looks are catch and shoot 3s and that is why he scores inconsistently. Give him the ball consistently down hill in a one on one and he will give you 20 PPG with decent offensive rebounding numbers as well.
Jaden isn't nearly a good enough 1 on 1 player to want that type of action to be any part of a planned offense. He pretty clearly looks like he doesn't have a plan for what he wants to do most times he puts the ball on the deck and instead he just starts doing stuff. He has tunnel vision when he drives and makes a lot of careless turnovers when he gets stuck with no where to go. There's no creation for others. And his handle to get past guys isn't overly strong. Designing schemes for him to have more on ball creation would be a disaster.

I had forgotten they had the Detroit 1st from the deal, that does make trades a bit easier. I was thinking about something like Randle + assets (Dillingham) for Doujonte Murray with Randle going to a third team. But that first might open up better/less costly options. I do think it is too early to judge Minnesota entirely since we are only 28 games in and they are 14-14 and because they might be able to follow up.

A lot more than anyone expected? How so? Rockets and Grizzlies offered 4 firsts and got denied. Everyone knew that. How is 1 more late (and protected) first from Milwaukee and a swap (likely not going to be exercised) considered a lot more especially when he hit another level offensively?

DDV (a fringe starter who’s underperforming) and a protected 1st (likely two seconds from Detroit) in the KAT trade is not as valuable as you’re making it out to be. If this was offered in the OP people would still laugh at it the same way Wolves fans are upset with the result of the trade right now. Let’s be serious. Stop being a Grinch
