The NBA doesn't need to market the game to Americans because they are fully bought in, to continue to grow the popularity of the league worldwide Wemby is marketable to the young international fans now.
Why would Wemby be marketable for young "internstional" fans? "International" isn't exactly a group.
Sure they are a group...they are non-Americans which Americans have a cultural connection to the league while people outside of America have their own leagues in their own part of the world they might be more apt to connect with. So Wemby is the type of modern style player that they can connect with in a league with increasingly more international players as their some of their best players.
The last international fandom explosion was decades ago with international fans being fans of American players. I'm sure the league would want another explosion and will use international players to do it if they can. I understand you are an international fan looking to get butthurt about something, so don't let me stop you...not that you need my permission to be butthurt about something.
Well, sorry to burst you bubble, but you know what is the difference to a non-French international fan between Wemby or any rando American player? Nothing, they are equally as foreign.
