Especially when you look at what we have on the roster. Weve got some nice guys but we need a top dog scorer badly.

Id probably trade Bam too as we are putting ourselves in another treadmill position.

Herro can go too

The problem with keeping him in the post Jimmy years is that he’ll almost definitely be miscasted as the primary handler.

The longer he stays in that role, the more difficult it becomes to recast him in his correct role as an off ball shooter

Well they would have never gotten Butler if the Heat signed Wade to the deal he wanted. Paying him max for five years. That would of put them back to irrelavancy.

Maybe, maybe not. They were already boys. He was Jimmy’s mentor

You want max Wade w broken knees and max Jimmy on the same team? Two max players w no 3 pt shots? Wow, why u not a GM already? Lol

Heat were fine with giving him 20 mill per, but he wanted the max when it was obvious his knees were declining and he wanted the Heat to act like they were recruiting him on the boat.

He should’ve been paid, hes the reason this franchise is relevant and that can’t be debated.

Wade?
Maybe should've been paid more earlier. But you don't at that pt. You wanna be like Lakers paying Kobe at the end of his career just to be mediocre for several years?

And maybe you are too young to remember pre-Wade years. Miami was a relevant franchise. Just because Heat didn't win it all doesn't mean they were not. Was Knicks not relevant? Celtics for couple decades of no rings until one finally last year? Lakers post The Showtime until pre-Kobe/Shaq years? Some teams are relevant even if they don't win the ring every year.
God, it's like u can't talk w teenagers about life

Yes Wade and the were mediocre for years regardless after he left.

Sorry I guess they had some good seasons but they were just another franchise, Wade catapulted them into a dynasty and actually gave the “Heat Culture” nonsense some kind of meaning and backbone. No one gives a damn about that stuff if it isn’t backed with championships and without championships we’re just the Orlando Magic.

Wait, didn’t Wade want 2 years/50 mill? Where you getting the five years from?

We were irrelevant without Wade until we got Butler, so it was either be irrelevant trotting out a veteran Wade or being irrelevant with the crap team we put out after Wade left.

And that’s the lesson Riley needs to learn, we’re going to be irrelevant regardless for the next few years whether we keep Butler or not. And I’d rather be irrelevant with Butler getting his money.

Heat offered him two years 40 mill. Wade wanted more and a longer deal. He wanted max, would of taken 2 yr likely 50 but he wanted a big end of career deal.

The Miami Heat have offered Dwyane Wade a two-year, $40 million contract, according to league sources.

Wade is hoping for a longer deal or more than the $20 million he made last year if he is to accept a two-year deal, a source told Shelburne. Wade, sources told ESPN, continues to draw interest from the Denver Nuggets and Milwaukee Bucks. However, on Tuesday, sources told ESPN's Brian Windhorst that Wade canceled some free agent meetings, including with the Bucks.

We definitely need a quarterback pg if we wanna build around Herro and Bam. This is why I wanna get a pg for Butler if moved.

Absolutely need a QB PG. Not many available. Might have to gamble on Ball

Yes to Ball if Mia keeps Jimmy

In the post Jimmy era, however, the team will need someone capable of being the primary handler for the majority of each game

Ball only playing 20 mins a night and who knows if he’ll ever get to the point of being able to play heavy minutes again

I'm drunk, yes, lol. It's Christmas day and all, lol

Thought you meant keeping n paying Wade long enough to recruit Butler here. But, you should read about their bonding experience in Chicago. I don't think they were boys like you think prior to that just because they went to the same school. And it's more about getting contacts than playing w your boys anyways in the league. Without the Wade year in Chicago, Butler mostly likely not ending up here

Wade retired the summer that got Jimmy. If he would gotten what he really wanted, likely wouldnt have retired. And when a player retires, while under contract it doesnt drop off until the following summer

I'm actually intrigued by Ball and Simmons if we could get one of them cheap. Tall pgs in a small ball would be ideal if Spo is married to small ball

Where did this new narrative come from?

Also, the Heat obviously did not need to give up any draft picks to sign Wade to a fifth year.

You're spinning bull here.

The Heat could have kept Wade by simply matching the two year offer that he got from the Bulls. The Heat said "it's been nice knowing you!"

Wade, Lebron and Bosh sat with Pat and said they wanted the fifth year. Pat told them if they force him to do that then will not have draft picks to keep building the team around the big three. So pat traded picks for Lebron and Bosh to give everyone the fifth year. The big three were negotioting the contracts together with Pat. So they force pat to trade picks for the fifth year and all three of them declined out of it when the year came.

No, they couldnt match the offer. Because Wade opt out the fifth year, and resigned for one year 20 mill, the Heat lost Wade bird rights. At that point Wade was just looking for a team who was willing to pay him more than the Heat could.

I believe the Heat would have gave Wade 25 mill if it wasnt for the bidding war for Whiteside. The Heat should have let him walk, IMO. They should have never trusted Whiteside with that much money.
