It took far too long for OG to be Wemby’s primary defender. Should’ve started the game like that.

Then OG would have been in the same foul trouble KAT was from guarding him most of the way and been hampered from playing aggressive defense on him late.

There might be an argument OG could have been deployed on him sooner in the 2nd half than halfway through the 4th quarter but the switch late also seemed to flummox Wemby without a chance to adjust to the change.

Might have been more impactful springing the OG lock late but what we do know is the Knicks won the game.

That's not founded in any sort of reality.

OG is a premier defender in this league, guards the opposing team's best scorers every night, and is rarely in foul trouble.

KAT is a mediocre defender and is in foul trouble nearly every game.

OG got called for a phantom foul while guarding Wemby the first or so possession when he was on him in the 4th. If you believe the conspiracy theories, I think it'd safe to say OG would have been a non factor

yup should have been OG on Wemby and KAT on Sochan.

Thibs was forced into this move because of KAT foul trouble so that was a blessing by disguise I guess. But thibs gotta make that move way sooner. Or even to start the game like you said.

The late switch may have worked better than giving him all game to adjust to it so was rattled in crunch time by the change. We don't know if the switch late what was planned or not, some people are just assuming it wasn't because they don't know anything other than their own thoughts on it.

imagine prime Melo (or Bernard King) in todays roster and NBA defenses who give you so much room to roam in the mid range

Hopefully Towns brings some of it and Mikal becomes at least at Sprewell and Houston level of consistency and effectiveness

In Thibs 4 seasons coaching the Knicks his teams have had two 9 game winning streaks and two 8 game winning streaks in 3 of those seasons he's lead. They are now on their longest winning streak this season of 5 games.

This team is still building chemistry and has more upside potential to grow into.

The Knicks won because their coach made a late game defensive adjustment of allowing an elite defender to aggresively guard him. That might not have been available in the final 6mins of the 4th quarter if he was in foul trouble while also considering the whistle that player gets.

Those are the facts, it's founded in reality unlike the notion that the coach didn't have this planned to begin with even though there's a history of him deploying that defender late in the game on difficult match ups. That is also fact, not speculating why it was done, just noting it's a reoccurrence.

The things people imagine about the coach's intentions or plans are just stories they make up in their head about it, that's called speculation. Me saying I don't know what the coach's intentions were just what actually transpired is not specualtion on the motives, just noting the results.

Definitely conspiracies in Silver's corrupt NBA.

However, surprisingly, I didn't see them giving Wemby much of an advantage. He only had 4 free throw attempts in 40 minutes and we were playing him physically on his drives, which is probably one of the reasons he took 16 3's.
