Re: The ¿Merry? Christmas game: Celtics vs Sixers
In terms of defensive intensity, this was a different team tonight start to finish.
I've never seen Oubre lock in like that.... almost ignoring any offensive glory and just asserting every ounce of his energy into trying to stifle their wings. He was no Bruce Bowen, but he was a factor and I love the way he committed to trying to disrupt for 4 quarters. He'll get no credit, but he played uncharacteristingly winning basketball and had a role in that win.

It was beautiful to watch. He’s locked in the last two weeks or so.

Been highly impressed with Oubre lately.

I don't know man, Harden is having a great year out in LA. He may have gotten the last laugh with Morey. I'd take him over George if I had the choice.
Meh... inefficient shooter but good offensive engine and meh defense. George at least plays good defense when his shot isn't falling and can be an offensive engine(to a lesser degree) too. Harden a bad fit in Philly and will always disappear in the playoffs, but he makes himself too important to the offense to just disregard him when he sucks in the big games. Harden numbers are not all star level right now and clippers are a better team than many think as they have hella 3&D players and 2 way center. Going to my point that it's a better floor raiser to spread money around and easier to carry without 3 Max contracts with injuries.

You're not winning anything if you're relying on George and Harden. Weak mentalities + flawed games.

No doubt. Point taken...Paul George is going to have to win my trust. His lack of consistent availability is why I would take Harden over him. I like Paul George, if we can win with him, then that'll be good enough for me. He played well today despite what the numbers say.

How about George for Butler? Or a 3 way where George goes to the Lakers or somewhere else and we get Butler?

Harden maybe the better player out of the two. But PG will play his role and deffer to Maxey, whereas Maxey would always deffer to Harden. And no knock on Harden but he still see's himself as the system, but in Philly it's Maxey's turn, and in order to see what Maxey can truly be Harden had to step out of the way. I doubt he would have done that willingly. And Philly got a 1st round pick, a swap, got rid of PJ Tucker and added Martin. That's a win in my book. PG is having his struggles but he plays good defense, get's some timely rebounds and I was not concerned when he went to the free throw line at the end of the game and hit 2 free throws when the game mattered most. What is funny about this game is Embiid. He played a good solid game but it was Maxey that was in the lead position. I like that.

Rather have PG, no question. He played very solid D out there on the duo from Boston along with Caleb on their home court. Meanwhile, Harden can't guard his shadow and is very ball dominant to be successful.....don't need that at all. Who on the Celtics can Harden guard? Exactly.
PG can take a backseat, and I figure his shot will start going down as he gets more time with the big 3. Then PG will be great, and it makes me wonder if we are paying attention to D at all here.
Stop the knee jerking and just give it some time, maybe some of you want Tobi back since you want a no D dude out there that chokes at a moments notice ala Harden.

Winning today puts the final nail in the coffin of the tanking plan. This team should be back to .500 in January, and can make a run after that.
Health permitting.
Yep, that’s a massive assumption of healthy Joel and PG.
Also, we’re back to Nurse is playing Maxey too many minutes.
We loss the dream of playing Max less when McCain went down.
Maybe next year we can play Max less, but its not happening when we have Lowry as his backup.

I love what I'm seeing from Kelly, he is in passing lanes and playing really hard overall. His offense has suffered in the process, but I'm going to say the truth whether some will want to hear it or not. We need this sacrifice on this team cause now we have alot of offense, although I miss McCain.
We need more D, like they showed tonight. Hassle, scrappy, and hardnose D like how the Knicks put us out the playoffs last year.
Very happy with what I saw last night, and hope it continues....and hope they are finally tired of getting put out in the 2nd round year after year by teams who just plain want it more.

McCain has probably played his last game as a Sixer. I can definitely see him moved as trade bait before the deadline. Had he not been out for the season, then he probably doesn't get traded but if Morey is going to add another piece to try to salvage this season, I think he gets traded.

I think you can get away with Maxey 36, Lowry 12. Stay there Nurse, and we're fine.

You want to be put 20 bucks on it?
Otherwise might want to phrase this as ‘it could maybe happen’ and not ‘this is probably happening.’

I agreed with this before the season started.
However, McCain played well enough that you would have to get a hefty return in order to deal him.
No idea who that would be.

Maxey had 12 assists last night, and 8 against the Spurs. I like that he's becoming a better distributor out there. As his career continues he'll get better as a lead guard in that area the way Harden did.
Also...He was absolutely fearless last night against Boston. That may have been because they were without Holiday, but Derrick White was guarding him and he's a great defensive player in his own right. We've just seen in the past where Boston especially has been able to slow down and frustrate Maxey. Not last night. He’s completely figured things out.

The only person McCain is being traded for is a package around Steph Curry. Other than that the 76ers are going to figure out just how good he is or is not before any trade goes down. And it's not happening this season, unless it's for Steph Curry.

We're not trading McCain.
The Clippers pick is enough to get a valuable piece, specially with the amount of disposable contracts we have right now.
