Tomorrow off of one video? Hasn't Gary been doing intense pre-game workouts since the Philly game? I think it's soon, but tomorrow seems wild

I’m not buying tomorrow. They will probably see how he feels after this on court workout.

1st game of the year seems like the soonest to me.

No clue, but even if it took another month, then so be it. Just come back healthy. I wanna see a string of 50 point games.

I’m not sure I want a string of 50 point games. The lack of ball movement would only hurt the offense as a team getting better.

He was taking contact in that video he’s back folks. Just a couple more days.

It's great to see his continued progression.

It looks like he's ramped up to controlled contact. My guess is that the staff will "see how his body responds," and the next step will be live practice "scrimmaging."

He should be pretty close. I would selfishly like to see him back for the Knicks game, but he should take one more week recovering/ramping up and return starting with our road trip on January 1st vs the Pistons.

It looked like the coach was punching him in the obliques.

Sunday, Jan 5th v. Utah or sooner?

I’m thinking they will give him a week to respond and if no set backs, he might be back next week. Maybe a road game even though that is not the Magic’s MO.

Gary has been intensely working out before every single game for more than 2 weeks.

But I assume A. hamstrings are a bit trickier than obliques in terms of reinjury risk and B. Gary's not nearly as much of a priority to return as Paolo is

"He continues to respond to what we're pushing him to do," coach Jamahl Mosley said after shootaround Thursday (but while Paolo Banchero was going through his workout). "It's continuing to look at the days as they move forward. He is able to run up to higher speeds now. Getting on the court a little bit, doing some ball handling and some defensive work. Just little small pieces just to see how he's responding to what we're throwing his way."

Mosley said Banchero was not doing contact yet. Although the assistant coaches gave him light bumps as he worked around screens on both offense and defense.

Either next game or 2 more weeks (nothing in between).

I mean if he was feeling great 3 weeks ago, then how is he feeling now?

I think he'll still comeback on the timeline Mosley said. Mid January.

No need to rush him back. Lets check all the boxes thoroughly and make sure that oblique is in tip top shape.

He should also be on a minutes restriction for a good amount of time when returning. And shouldnt play 40+ minutes under any circumstance. Preferably 30 mins for the rest of the season.

Why not work himself into shape playing? They must be slightly concerned about his ability to take live action contact.

Huh?

I think it's just the designated speak for someone practicing and returning soon.
