Yeah, the NBA had better games but even with blow out don't think people will stop watching the NFL. I expect the ratings to favor the NFL.

The NFL numbers are about 4-5 million lower than normal because the games were on Netflix.

Still, their ratings are 5X the NBA. Which is expected. Not to say the NBA ratings were bad, they were also very good. But comparing anything to the NFL is going to make the other thing look bad.

Well, the NFL waltzing in with two lousy games that easily were viewed in 500% more households is still a bummer. I'm glad the Christmas basketball games were viewed more than prior years, though. The next few years, Christmas is on weekends, so I expect the NFL to continue to get 50 million eyes on their package that day. Heck, I bet they go for three games perhaps not next year (it's a Thursday) but once they get a Saturday or Sunday Christmas.

NFL did 5x NBA despite being on paid subscriptions lol. People here are going to be even more butthurt lol. I bet only reason NBA did better than last year was because the NFL games were on Netflix. Those without subscriptions probably watched NBA because nothing better was on.

Seems like trash games (blame is more on the underwhelming Texans/Steelers), still 5x ratings. Going forward, the NFL could roll out their aces and schedule something like:

Detroit vs Green Bay
Kansas City vs Buffalo
Baltimore vs Pittsburgh

Warriors vs. Lakers is about as big as it can get, but LeBron will be near 41 next year. The NBA better start generate some newer rivalries.

I don’t get why people get so competitive with this anyway. The NFL is a far more popular product, and it’s really not even close.

It’s like fans of a little brother that keep egging on the Goliath that is the NFL and their fans. Nothing the NBA does now or in the near future is going to come close in terms of popularity.

Lol great timing by ESPN to post this article.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/43173264/netflix-smashes-records-nfl-doubleheader-christmas-day

Even with the games being blow outs, even with them being on a streaming only platform. It’s not even a contest. Threads like this scream insecurity by fans of just the NBA.

The NBA had more competitive games for sure. But I don’t know why we have to make this an NBA vs NFL debate or why we need to argue over who was better. Having options is great for fans. I’d rather have the option to watch either sport than to not have the option.

Because some of these fans are sheeps and felt threatened by the NFL

This whole feud is weird. Whether you watch one or both, neither league is putting money in any of our pockets.

Like I found it to be pretty strange (and probably uneducated) when fans here were doing victory laps over the new media rights deals. Like, you guys do realize that the more these networks pay the NBA, the more it's gonna cost you to access these networks, correct? the raise they gave the NBA is passed on to us with higher cable and streaming bills. Even cord-cutting darlings like YouTube TV are raising prices because these networks now charge more to make up for the NBA price increase.

As far as for me, I watched neither yesterday because my teams weren't involved (Bulls and Bears). These days I just don't watch much regular season sports that don't involve my own teams. I do watch alot of playoff games for both leagues though. Because playoffs just has a different feel to it.

NFL has had better ratings than all American sports for a while now. There's just a bunch of weirdos that post about how the NBA is bad and unwatchable without even watching games to know if it's good or not.

What was the point of all this? Like one of the NFL games had as many viewers as all of the NBA games
