---------------------------------------
BKN Gets: PJ Tucker, Bones Hyland, Amir Coffey, 2026 LAC/MEM 2nd (Less favorable of the two), 2029 SAC 2nd, 2030 LAC/UTA 2nd (Less favorable for the two), & 2031 LAC 2nd
BKN Gives: Dorian Finney-Smith
Why for BKN? The Nets move on from their likely expiring 31 year old 3&D forward and lean further into their rebuild by adding for 4 2nd round picks and maintaining their cap space for 2025 since Lyles, Hyland, and Coffey are all expirings.
PG - Melton / Hyland / Milton
SG - Thomas / Coffey / Johnson
SF - Johnson / Williams / Whitehead / Watford
PF - Simmons / Wilson / Tucker
C - Claxton / Sharpe / Clowney
---------------------------------------
LAC Gets: DeMar DeRozan
LAC Gives: PJ Tucker, Bones Hyland, Amir Coffey, 2026 LAC/MEM 2nd (Less favorable of the two), 2030 LAC/UTA 2nd (Less favorable for the two), & 2031 LAC 2nd
Why for LAC? The Clippers are 20th in ORTG and 5th in DRTG. They could really use another shotmaker to help carry the offense (especially since Leonard rarely plays). If Leonard is able to come back healthy, perhaps a Leonard, Harden, & DeRozan trio (surrounded by lengthy defenders who can space the floor) is enough to make some noise in the western conference. They could even look at making DeRozan a super 6th man which would allow the Clippers to prioritize a strong defensive starting lineup out of the gate.
PG - Harden / Dunn / Porter
SG - Powell / Mann / Christie
SF - DeRozan / Jones
PF - Leonard / Batum / Brown
C - Zubac / Bamba
---------------------------------------
PHX Gets: Kevin Huerter, Keegan Murray, Trey Lyles, Devin Carter, Future SAC 1st (Unprotected - conveys 2 years after ATL pick), Future SAC 1st (Unprotected - conveys 4 years after ATL pick), & Future SAC 1st (Unprotected - conveys 6 years after ATL pick)
PHX Gives: Kevin Durant
Why for PHX? The Suns are substantially over the 2nd apron and are currently hovering around .500. They do this to push back their timeline and retool around Booker by bringing in two young, promising lottery picks (Murray & Carter) along wit 3 unprotected 1sts to add to their asset pool.
PG - Jones / Carter / Morris
SG - Beal / Allen / Lee
SF - Booker / O’Neale / Huerter
PF - Murray / Dunn / Ighodaro
C - Nurkic / Plumlee / Lyles
---------------------------------------
SAC Gets: Kevin Durant & Dorian Finney-Smith
SAC Gives: DeMar DeRozan, Kevin Huerter, Keegan Murray, Trey Lyles, Devin Carter, 2029 SAC 2nd, Future SAC 1st (Unprotected - conveys 2 years after ATL pick), Future SAC 1st (Unprotected - conveys 4 years after ATL pick), & Future SAC 1st (Unprotected - conveys 6 years after ATL pick)
Why for Kings? The Kings go all in on a big 3 of Fox, Durant, and Sabonis with a super sixth man to lead the bench unit (Monk) in hopes of becoming a contender to convince Fox to stick around. In addition to giving the Kings a legit #1 scorer, Durant’s other attributes make him a terrific fit at PF next to Sabonis (excellent size, length, & athleticism, can defend the perimeter, can help protect the rim, and can space the floor). DFS gives them another big, long forward who can help improve their defense while still spacing the floor for their stars.
PG - Fox / Monk / McLaughlin
SG - Ellis / Jones
SF - DFS / McDermott
PF - Durant / Crowder / Jones
C - Sabonis / Len / Robinson

No.
This team lacks the depth to be a true contender beyond Conference finals level.
Then you basically give up your current young players AND half of your future picks?
Nah I don’t see this as the move to guarantee a chip. There are several teams that are much deeper in the hunt that likely would beat this team in seven.

I disagree, I’d take the gamble for KD. Durant, Fox and Sabonis with Monk, Ellis and DFS can be a contender.

Its a one or two year proposition, as opposed to a 10 year one.......
And we don't even know if the current core is part of the problem...

We know that this current core isn’t a contender. Yes the deal does sacrifice assets in the future, but KD is still a legitimate top 10 player to go with your other 2 top 20 guys in Fox and Sabonis. Whichever path the Kings go down will have risk and downside to it, but at least this path gives a real shot at contention.

No.
You have what the Knicks have. Six playable guys and a pack of G leaguers. It won’t contend and likely won’t make the second round against stacked West teams.
It’s taking the PHX situation and moving it to Sac. And making the same dumb mistake mortgaging the future.
No thanks I’d rather build and contend naturally than try for a false two year window.

This part right here.
I maintain that Mike Brown is the primary issue combined with a lack of size at the PF and players out of position and bad lineup balance (coaching again).

Made my thoughts clear on DeRozan to the Clips in another thread, but besides that, I don't think the Kings should consider this.

Going to bump this considering the Kings FO seem to be scapegoating the coach which makes me think they’re going to be buyers at the deadline.
