I wouldn't give up Monk for JI. Guy can't even play 20mpg and you are always wondering when he won't play for the rest of the year.
The issue with him is always if he could play enough minutes the Magic aren't trading him. And teams should be loathe to give up much for a guy who can't play real minutes, still has no offensive game to speak of, and is a threat to be out for the year at any minute.
And worth pointing out on a good team, he manages to have some ugly on/off numbers so its not like you are getting 86 Bill Walton playing 6MOY basketball in 16 minutes a night.
The idea of him has always been so tantalizing. The reality of him is just so far removed from that, yet we keep pretending otherwise.

I think that's a bit overblown, TC. There's only a handful of players in the league who have hit their idealized ceiling, Isaac is one of the majority who haven't. He's still a very effective role player, one of the very best in the league. If you wouldn't give Monk for him, that's fine. We value JI differently, you and I.

Step 3: Trade with Hawks
Huerter, Len, lowering protections to top 2 protected for Deandre Hunter
Why for Hawks? Seems like the 3 starting wings are in place already. The Kings are fading fast and Hawks risking not getting the pick again. This guarantees the pick for a guy who has been often injured. Save a few bucks, and get a familiar bench scorer.
.
Hawks decline.
Hunter has found his role coming off the bench and he's also finishing games in place of Risacher.
Length and defense was the offseason focus for the Hawks and Hunter has been a big part of that.
I'm sure the Hawks would like the pick to convey but they won't sacrifice winning to do so, considering they also have the LAL 2025 unprotected pick, they'll just let it roll over to next year 2026 top 10 protected.

Re: Fixing the Kings (or trying)
Smart/LaRavia for DDR is something I have been tossing around in my head. Just not sure if DDR fits in our new offense. If he is willing to play a 24 minute 6th man role then this might work. Help carry us in the games Ja misses, and VWill and Wells step into the main defensive roles.
Smart has been a great vet influence and a positive influence for us, but has been a disappointment overall with his health and shooting . But if he is able to rebound to form then could be a great influx of D that sac needs. LaRavia is having a breakout season, but with his option decline it's going to hard to retain him this offseason and his role will likely decrease when VinceW and GG Jackson are back. He would be a 22+ minute rotation player for Sac.
But with JJJ's next contract looming and our likely desire to resign Aldama, we likely don't want DDR on the books in 26-27 season at 37 years old. 10m GTD that season gives some flexibility but not much. So I think Memphis likely passes, but is a interesting idea... maybe with Konchar instead of LaRavia to help alleviate some future money and keep LaRavia in his role for the year.

And they named Christie interim. I'm happy today!
