Orlando Magic fans seem willing to part with Wendell Carter. I hate that we're still in this spot despite the Drummond signing. He was supposed to eliminate the backup center issues we've been plagued by, but even his rebounding (which is his best attribute) has been lacking. Defensively he's awful, and he's gone backwards on an already limited offensive game. I still say that the perfect backup center is an athletic player that can hit an open three and play either the 4 or the 5 position. That player is Jalen Smith... Currently rotting in Chicago.
Man, I didn't realize Smith isn't getting much playing time in Chicago. His numbers are solid. It looks like they're playing him exclusively at the 5 (no minutes with Vuc).
With Vuc's age, they probably want to keep Smith even though he's underutilized at the moment. He's on a decent deal for 3 years. Would be worth exploring if they would move him, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.
Kessler also probably doesn't get moved this year for cheap. Low salary next year + RFA control after that. Isn't good enough to hurt their tank.
