You're slipping. They did it on 11/19 against the TWolves.

That tricky old possessive adjective "their" messed up my post.

EDIT: Wait, no, it's the "that" that's led to the confusion.

via Sean Grande on BlueSky:
Your NBA Thursday...

Hawks down 16 to Chicago with 5:30 left
Heat down 10 at Orlando in the 4th
Blazers down 10 at Utah in the 4th
Pistons down 10 at Sacramento with 2:45 left

All four won.

(Plus, Memphis a franchise record 155, Heat score 89 and win, Bulls score 133 and lose)

Nothing should surprise us anymore. Except for OKC/Cavs losing a game and Celtics actually playing defense.

Ladies and gentlemen, your 2022-23 kiss of death, err, Coach of the Year winner!

Daigneault seems safe - for now! Wait til his team of rookie contracts doesn't win the title.

Hire Mike Brown to our coaching staff. Maybe the Charles Lee departure hurt our defense more than we realize.

I’d think more likely than not he’ll go back to the Warriors.

Please?! I pause because I don’t think he’ll be okay with not being second and you can’t do that to Sam.

Cavs are really legit, they are destroying the Nuggets. Spida is cooking as usual. We’ll play against them in the ECF, without the home court advantage. It’s gonna be interesting

Yup. People are delusional if they think they’re gonna fall off the face of the map. Knicks playing well also. Celtics need to get on a rolled here and play well.

Exactly, no one is beating the Cavs in a 7 game series except a 100% fully healthy Cs team where KP doesn't get hurt. And honestly what are the chances of that?

Even the Golden State Warriors that won 73 games in 2016 couldn't sustain their greatness that season.

73 wins and didn't win a championship in the end.

I don't think anyone is saying the Cavs will fall off a cliff, but as good as they are now, there's a big chance that what they're doing now will last all the way up to May.

That's just how the NBA rolls.

The player rotation in the playoffs will be different.

Even the style of play will be different as the pace of the game slows down in the playoffs.

If the regular season is just the same as the playoffs then Steve Nash would have made the finals with the Suns and James Harden would've reached the finals as a Houston Rocket.

And regarding the Knicks, the Celtics can beat the Knicks, in the playoffs, with one eye closed.

No the Knicks would be a hard series for anyone, except maybe CLE.

https://nypost.com/2024/12/27/sports/bill-simmons-lebron-james-stephen-curry-part-of-the-problem-for-nba/

I like Bill but every now and then he has these opinions and then walks them back. I can't blame the NBA for putting the two oldest best players on XMas day primetime regardless of the standings. This could be the last time that game happens if either hangs em' up. As for the other 4 games there should have been a better job done by the scheduling crew to get the top 23/24 playoff teams from each conference on the schedule. Wemby's great, but the Spurs had no business playing on XMas day. West teams should have been OKC, Den Minny and Dal. The East should have been Bos, Cle, Mil and NY.

I didn't get Simmons take on the Euro stars and where they spend their time. IMO, they pay US taxes. If they want to go back home and enjoy their fortune then good for them.
