That's a Kevin Durant / Donovan Mitchell like package, Fox isn't worth that especially with his contract situation (he'll get a ridiculous contract in a season and a half). This would be a very costly mistake by the Spurs.

How does this look?

Spurs aren't paying an unprotected FRP so that they can help the Lakers get Fox

When your team is in 12th in the conference and a guy might leave as a free agent, the offers tend to be bad.

The Raptors got 2 late firsts and a meh first (Indy 2026, only top 4 protected but Indy probably won't be terrible) and Bruce Brown for Siakam. Indy wouldn't fork over Mathurin or even Nembhard (pre playoff breakout) or Jarace Walker or even Ben Sheppard or Isaiah Jackson (who both would have fit us okay, we have no real young backup center and Sheppard would have had Walter's role as a 3+D 2 guard since we hadn't drafted Walter yet). They just wouldn't add them and didn't have to in the end.

There were rumours that Siakam wanted to sign in Indy though, whereas Fox I assume would happily sign for 200M+ in either Houston or San Antonio as he's a Texan and those teams have good young talent.

Goga + Anthony Black equals about 2 mid firsts I would say with their good contracts and ages. So, Kings get about one first more in value than the Raptors did, but Fox is younger and a little better than Siakam so that evens out. KCP is similar to Bruce Brown. Feels about the same to me.

It only takes one team to raise the bidding and maybe Houston or San Antonio will do it, but if not, this feels like market value based on last year's deadline. Different deadline, though, so it could be solidly higher or lower than this.

Also I don't think the Pelicans would do that or Fox would want to sign in San Antonio.

To be fair, Raps didnt want to pay Siakam and were intent on getting the best they could. SAC might decide to test Fox's resolve at FA and see if he's willing to forgo the extra money only they can pay

Agreed. There are several variables that make Fox different than Siakam and OG. The Kings are willing to give him a full five year max and the consensus seems to be that he's a max player. The money these guys have to give up to sign the four year offer with smaller raises is substantial. Also, a couple of the teams interested have no realistic way of clearing a max slot.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

You're probably right honestly. I like Fox but re-reading my post later I definitely kinda feel it would be an overpay
