Leon has put together a championship roster. Looking forward to seeing Thibs break some of those old habits and deliver the goods. He's a solid coach, just has to continue to be flexible and quicker to adapt in real-time and use his personnel.
With the team gelling, Mitch coming back, and Mikal hitting returning to being a star, we have the horses ...no team in the east has more talent than us ... We need to be in the finals.
Thibs is a very good coach. Who's better?
Pop?
Kerr?
Mazzula?
Spo?
Mazzula, others also at his level?
Playoffs. That's where coaching and talent are equally as important.
The coaches you've listed have had some very talented teams and have proven to be elite coaches. Naturally, they have a far better playoff win % than Thibs.
30 coaches in the league. 7 of those coaches never been to the playoffs and are new/driving tank teams.
Of the other 23 that have been to the playoffs, Thibs is 15th out of 23 in playoff win %.
1 Steve Kerr .707
2 Joe Mazzulla .692
3 Mark Daigneault .600
4 Gregg Popovich* .599
5 Tyronn Lue .593
6 Ime Udoka .583
7 Erik Spoelstra .582
8 Nick Nurse .574
9 Mike Brown .556
10 Michael Malone .550
11 Mike Budenholzer .538
12 Doc Rivers .511
13 Jason Kidd .484
14 Rick Carlisle .473
15 Tom Thibodeau .447
16 Chris Finch .444
17 Jamahl Mosley .429
18 Billy Donovan .413
19 Quin Snyder .404
20 Taylor Jenkins .391
21 J.B. Bickerstaff .318
22 Willie Green .200
23 Kenny Atkinson .200
Of course there's different factors like talent, injuries, etc, but this year Thibs has arguably the top roster in the entire east. If Thibs is really that guy---a top strategist, adaptable...he will be moving up on that list and we will be meeting the Thunder in the finals.
Atkinson obviously is going to shoot up that list this postseason. If we we get bounced in the 2nd round....that's a problem. Every elite coach has to start from somewhere. If a change is needed, I trust Leon.
