I think the people complaining about 3s want him to post up more, not shoot more mid range jumpshots.

Sampson was unbelievably strong but could not put on bulk. Porzingis has been in the league for years and is not appreciably bigger than he used to be.

Wemby is thin and probably will stay that way. That would limit his offensive potential because he then would not be an effective post up player.

Being slim would likely also hamper his ability to defend the post.

Porz and Sampson had the same challenges. Limited capacity to back defenders down and getting easily moved around when they play defense.

Anthony Davis likes to bully Porz when they play. Davis just shoves Porz around as Davis posts up. Wemby will probably have to deal with the same kind of thing.

Wemby can still be a great player, as Sampson was early in his career. 20/10 and 2+ blocks per game. All-Star, etc.

I'm not sure he'll ever get past that level, to like one of the top players in the game.

Ralph was never Hakeem and never could have been. Porzingis is not on the level of Luka, and so on.

Porz had the Unicorn hype for awhile and then people began to see and realize his limits.

My guess is that Wemby will have that same kind of trajectory, even though I think he may have more potential than Porz.

Over 1 year later he is now way over of this level!

Seemed fishy, but I eyeballed it, and it looks like Hakeem missed it on blocks, of all things.

Anyways, that is utterly monstrous, especially considering Wemby's age.

guys i just saw this ****

i'm still dumbfounded

it's ridiculous

so we all know Wembanyama is the best defensive player in the league in year 2, right? Like we all know that, and it was expected that he would be this amazing on defense given he was All Defense his rookie year and 2nd in DPOY voting. I mean he's going to be the DPOY this year.

But let's take a minute to just respect the reality of Wembanyama's offense

25 ppg, that's right. 25 ppg. He's the best defensive player in the league and he's right outside the top 10 in scoring the league TODAY.

ok that's great an all but also 61% TS

that's right 61% TS on a 7 foot 3 freak of nature that takes 9.4 3PA a game.

At the bare minimum he's All NBA 2nd team in his second year, and DPOY. He's averaging 4 blocks a game and giving you 25 ppg on 61% TS

AND WHAT THE **** he's doing it in 33 minutes per game

I take that back, there are not 5 players better than Wembanyama in year 2

He's only behind Giannis, Jokic, SGA, and MAYBE Tatum, but the argument could be he's already better than Jayson Tatum which is INSANE

I mean this is making what Luka did look almost infantile, it is DISGUSTING what Wembanyama is doing. Like we have not seen someone this dominant since KAREEM

Let’s be serious here for a moment…there are growing concerns.

Real concerns.

Those screens he gets inside the paint are automatic buckets for him. Also the lobs as well. Not a fan of the super deep 3s he keeps taking but he's getting better as a 3pt shooter. He needs to add that Dirk 1 leg fadeaway and it's over lol.

They want him to post up more, with that frame? Seems unreasonable.

Secondly, he already ranks 15th in the league in post up possessions per game. The Spurs do not force him into post ups just for the sake of posting up, which is a wise and logical decision to me.

Post ups aren't a particularly efficient form of offense either. People are asking Wemby to play like a dinosaur because they miss their childhoods.

Besides efficiency, shooting 3s on high volume is soooo much energy conserving for the big man (and it helps with transition D as well).

This game against Nets is a good example why Wemby needs such high volume 3pt shooting: he was completely not interested in high effort today on the offensive side and still ended with 19 points, because he was able to hit like 3 threes in 2 minutes.

Wemby getting 10pts a game from 3pt shooting will be really helpful for full time defensive effort. This is luxury almost none of defensive anchors - first options on offense from the past had. Wemby gets 25 pts a game on high efficiency as an offball scorer mainly, just imagine him improving handles, iso scoring and face-up/mid-post game, getting stronger and being more frequent at the line.

Neither are the YouTube videos suggesting that if you still a small guy on him, he just hangs out on the perimeter and you can shut him down completely lol. Luckily people have no memory for YouTube videos/takes.

Yea, they already get him post touches, but in advantaged situations. If he's posting up in non-advantaged situations, you'll just be getting off balanced and not particularly high efficiency shots out of the possessions based on how strong he currently is.

Last 15 games (before today):
30.2 ppg, 10.3 rpg, 4.9 apg, , 3.5 tov, 3.9 blk 50.6 FG%, 39% 3PT, 87% FT

LOL, not even funny, and he's not in final form, just ridiculous.
