Kings buyers, sellers, or fire sale?
I have seen a ton of Kings threads, but I don’t know what the goal is? If Fox moves is it the beginning of a rebuild? In that case we should be looking at Spider like package when he left Utah. We should also be talking about Moving Sabonis and Monk. If we are talking retool then they probably need another PG (not necessarily as good,) but a talent upgrade at another position. If the Kings want to keep Fox, that means going all in on more talent coming in. I think it would be helpful to know what the Kings are actually hoping to accomplish this season and next?

Re: Kings buyers, sellers, or fire sale?
There won't be a fire sale, like at all. It's far, far more likely the Kings are buyers. Not suggesting that's what they should do, just what they WILL do.
After all, there are still like 4 playable guys on the roster over 6'6 to trade for 6'2-6'5 PG/SGs.

Re: Kings buyers, sellers, or fire sale?
I've said it elsewhere, but I still think they are too close to being a very good team to give up now. It could take years of rebuilding to be in as advantageous a position as they presently are. I know it looks bleak right now, but having Sabonis and Fox in the fold remains a strong foundation. It could take some deadline deals, an offseason, or even 18 months to retool around them, but it's worth trying. Buy.

Re: Kings buyers, sellers, or fire sale?
Kings owe a protected pick in the next two classes which are strong at the top, so it may be in their best interest to keep that pick, adding talent and draft assets would be huge for them long term. However, I think they'll be buyers. And I also think it may blow up in their face next season.

Let’s go buyer: Demar DeRozan, Kevin Huerter, Keegan Murray for Pascal Siakam

I still think they should try to add a guy like Bruce Brown by offering Huerter/McLaughlin/2025 2nd/2028 2nd

Buyers
…dumping Brown was probably appeasing Fox and clinging
…also, still a fair amount of top-endtalent in Fox and Sabonis…that won’t likely return equivalent talent, if moved. I think they keep them and shuffle the rest.
perhaps, mostly because Vivek is a child playing with a toy, not likely even considering a painful rebuild

Anyone able to build a three team deal to make the Kings better and get Keegan on the Mavs, with Mavs paying for the third team player?
I was trying to play with it but really couldn’t come up with one…

Re: Kings buyers, sellers, or fire sale?
Definitely buyers. Brown being fired was a clear indication of that (no chance they’re moving Foxx this deadline).
They’ll probably overpay for Cam Johnson and revisit everything this summer (for better or worse).

They're definitely buyers. Firing Brown makes that apparent. This season isn't going as planned and so they're rearranging the chairs on the titanic hoping the band playing the music can patch the hole.

Re: Kings buyers, sellers, or fire sale?
I think the Kings roster has major structural issues:
1) Sabonis is a tough guy to build around as a big who needs the ball but doesn't space the floor or defend the rim
2) Neither Fox or DeRozan are effective off the ball or as floor spacers
3) All three of these guys are subpar defenders
4) Of the top 3 guys, only Sabonis is in the conversation of top-20 player in the league
It's really tough to build a contender with the above concerns. The hope was that you have enough talent to be in the conversation as a top-6 team.
In order build around Fox and Sabonis, you need 3 and D players around the roster. Similar to what the Knicks are trying to do surrounding Brunson and Towns with elite 3 and D guys (Bridges/Anunony albeit at a ridiculous price). I thought the Kings has enough shot creation with Sabonis/Fox/Monk and for as limited as Harrison Barnes was as a player, this version of the Kings was at it's best when he was playing well.
Long story short, I don't think Sabonis/Fox is a core that can be more than a mid level playoff team, and DeRozan really just isn't a fit with the two of them.
Given where the Kings are, I would think they would try to reshuffle the deck before going full rebuild. Here are a few options:
1) Try to overwhelm the Knicks for OG Anunoby. I think the Knicks would show real interest in a deal built around Keegan Murray, Malik Monk and first round picks. It's a substantial price, but adding an all world front court defender is something this team needs. In theory, this kind of move puts DeRozan into a 6th man role and more shooting into the starting lineup. I would run out Fox-Huerter-Anunoby-Lyles-Sabonis.
2) Cheaper alternatives to Anunoby are Jeremi Grant, although Portland's asking price as said to be 2 1st rd picks. I also like the idea of Isiah Stewart from Detroit. He's a versatile defender who can switch and defend the rim, while being a decent 3 point shooter. Again, don't think this works with both DeRozan and Fox
3) Is there a DeRozan for Brandon Ingram based 3 team trade out there? Not sure it changes much but at this point Ingram in a better player. Still have similar concerns long term here.
It's a tough situation because their top players have some flaws that make them difficult to build around.

Re: Kings buyers, sellers, or fire sale?
I mean its all about Fox. I need to know he's really in at least through his contract. If he is, then you try and strategically buy. If he's not, then see what's out there for him. If there is a deal that returns a good player plus assets do that and still try and compete. If not, I'd fire sale and start over. Sucks considering how long they were awful before this, but you can't chase vets only to have Fox bail.

Re: Kings buyers, sellers, or fire sale?
Think there will be:
DDR 3/48 (final season not fully gtd
Huerter 2/34 - $18m expiring next season
Lyles $8m expiring
'27 or '28 1st
'28 1st
'29 1st
'30 1st
'31 1st (whichever is lower out of Sac/SA)
The buying needs to give the Kings more depth and length on the wing. Preferably a decent PF.
At this point in time they may as well go.
Huerter/Pick(s) for DFS
DDR/Pick(s) For Grant (3rd team required for DDR)

Re: Kings buyers, sellers, or fire sale?
Paying a first to swap Barnes for DDR, when the team already had Fox, Monk, and Sabonis was just inexplicable. They're not a good defensive team. They hired Brown to fix that and fired him for pointing out that Fox botched the final play of regulation on the defensive end.
They're badly mismanaged with an over involved owner who needs to trust the people he hires and step away. Even the Sabonis trade only looks good because Haliburton got injured and hasn't looked the same since. I say all this as a lapsed Browns fan.
For any team looking to trade good players, I actually think this is a seller's market. I'd move Fox and Sabonis for best packages I could get either now or this summer. The current roster construction is incongruios .Fox isn't good enough to let him dictate the direction of the franchise. Blow it up is the correct answer. Sacramento is a solid market. But for mismanagement, it should be a preferred destination.
That said, you probably need to fire Monte and replace him with someone in the mold of Presti who will be given the runway to make it happen. If Vivek isn't going to allow that, the rest doesn't matter.

Hard to see the Kings as sellers today.
But I'm very concerned.

Buyers.
Can’t fire the players.
Will try to give DC a shot at coaching some wins, make some personnel moves around the edges and ultimately fall short because the best 2 players in SAC aren’t good enough to carry a team.

Those 2 best players did carry them to the #3 seed just 2 seasons ago.

Buyers if it’s a value deal or letting it ride and seeing if this shakes out the dummy stuff and the current roster plays to its capabilities.

i think they should just blow it up. More likely they're buyers and wont consider trading Fox until the offseason.

That can happen with a few breaks. No real threat to win a title.
