The only thing worse than casual NBA fan discourse is how even the (relatively) smart people now seem to latch on to offseason narratives through nothing but lazy groupthink. Bucks discourse the past 6-months has basically been the same 2-3 talking points about how "tHeIR reCOrd was WorSe wiTH dOC", how Dame essentially sucks now, sprinkled in with the occasional "Giannis will probably still be awesome though" as this sort of backhanded compliment, and regurgitated every week on different platforms. Can't let any sort of contextual or critical thinking muck up the content churning machine, after all...

In fairness we've been the Clippers East for the last two seasons. And this Bucks team has now been in the spotlight for the past six seasons. Media will always default to fresh new material. Wolves and Knicks are where it's at.

That's a bit hyperbolic. What's 100% fair are the questions about our 3rd best player's health. But c'mon, we all saw the same internet power rankings and ESPN **** posts constantly putting the Sixers in the "contender" tier while the Bucks got/get dinged as fringe contenders for the "can't trust them to stay healthy" moniker.

The irony couldn't be any more obvious, and I'm someone who used to chuckle at the idea that the East Coast media largely stirred the NBA discourse pot. Throw in the annual ramping up of the "is Giannis leaving?" articles, and this all stinks of some "Dave Cowens deserved it over Kareem cuz he's a winner" era establishment that would naturally wince when a couple mid-west Europeans start hoarding all the glory.

Critiques of Sixers are fair, since Embiid and Paul George are once again not available for the opener.

But it isn't only Middleton. It is Giannis.

Giannis missed all six playoff games last year. Kawhi made 2 of the 6 games last year

In 2023, Giannis made 2.2 of 5 games and Kawhi made 2 of 5 games.

Read on Twitter

If you have The Athletic this is a good article on the results of the bankruptcy agreement, which is now final.

That's the only pregame/halftime show I watch in any sport.

It says they will continue to operate NBATV. But NBATV shows local broadcasts. They have other programming of course but it's nothing remarkable, mostly shows old games.

Great news but I feel like Disney will make them water the show down a bit.

Bucks are definitely positioning Kris Johnson to take over for pops, yeah?

I'd love that. He's super knowledgeable of the game and is entertaining. Their podcast is a fun listen and came at the right time because every other Bucks pod kind of went into the gutter...

Disney's a pretty big tent these days.

Not much Bucks talk from the national media lately…

When we started 2-8 the national media was perched like buzzards on rooftops…now crickets from Billy boy and Zach Lowe.

The game tonight is also OTA, channel 49 in Milwaukee. I have a feeling they are testing this out for when they're done with Diamond. Maybe do the Suns model of OTA plus a streaming option. That would be sweet.

Is Fanduel available on Amazon Prime Video yet? Google says it's been available since November but I cannot find it when I search.

Bucks podcasts are on a different level of embarrassing. Kane is the most boring person to listen to in the world even with the Aussie accent and somehow LOB got worse over the last 2 years. Lol

It’s gotten to the point where they won’t put in the podcast summary the hosts for that episode. I think they figured out if Frank wasn’t on, the clicks/listens would go down the drain. It is a crapshoot that you’ll get a game recap pod within 24 hours of a contest.

It leads into a discussion of the massive variance among “Locked On” pods. The brothers who host Locked on Lakers basically are media professionals and content drops immediately. It might as well be a network produced event. High, high quality.

Locked on Kings is always rolling after every game and then some, along with Locked on Suns, Wolves and Mav’s. The hosts of those aren’t pros but are pretty good. And the content is consistent.

Then you come to the Locked On’s for our Wisconsin pro teams……let’s just say David Locke isn’t necessarily concerned with quality control. Or maybe the compensation is so minuscule they can’t get anyone good.

The free-wheeling days of Frank and Eric were great. But I get why that version of the show had to come to an end.
