Man Chauncey needs to go this team looks significantly better. Scoot has had 2 good games away from billups as well

God damn it.

Also, Deni is proving me wrong about the price paid, happy to see him proving he was worth the asking price.

Also, as PDX said, Billups does need to go and this team needs a new voice. This isn’t like a good team letting a good coach goes. This is a bad fit and this team needs a coach for this team. Billups was brought in for the Dame era. Didn’t work, that sucks. But give this Baby Blazers team THEIR coach.

Coach Bjorkman is 2-0

Is he a good candidate to be the interim HC when Chauncey returns and the team returns to their
losing ways?

Genuinely tho, this team so desperately needs a new coach, one that is development focused.

Billups seems like a good dude, might still be a good coach for the right team, but this is not that team.

I don’t need a “name” coach like a Mike Brown or Sam Cassell, I just want a coach who fits.

Luka being out makes this outcome more understandable.

Nate Bjorkgren is better with the video game controller than Billups.

He's definitively better with the video game controller and making players play differently huh? He knows where to move Scoot and is better at releasing the button at the sweet spot of the release point like in the NBA 2K games, right? Nothing to do with Luka being out.

I did not get to watch this game, maybe I can stay awake long enough to watch the replay, but looking at the box score, good to see Deni/Scoot (in particular)/Sharpe play well.

However, another bad win, they need to unload the vets ASAP so they can give themselves a better chance to get a good draft pick because the harsh reality is that it doesn’t matter how much Scoot\Sharpe\Deni improve, b/c the way this team is currently constructed they will NEVER win anything meaningful.

You have to be able to see the forest through the trees

Scoot with back to back very good games, it looks like those who wrote the book on this kid already are going to be eating their words very soon.

I will say that I do find it a good sign that he almost immediately moved Deni back to the starting lineup. It seemed pretty obvious to me that this team basically HAS to start either Avdija or Scoot otherwise they effectively have no PG. I thought this has seemed pretty glaring whenever I watch this team and it is a really bad sign for Billups that he was bringing both of them off the bench for so long. I understand not wanting Scoot to start with Simons, but then that means Deni has to start.

I think that Deni's horrible shooting start had something to do with that. And Camara's hot shooting start from 3. Although I think Deni may have passed Camara now. Also, it seemed like Camara was getting many more open looks when Deni was playing with him. When Deni is playing there are a lot more of those hockey passes leading to more assists for the entire team.

Either way, the team is misaligned and poorly coached in general. Don't have my hopes up on a coaching or FO change though.

I very much hope you are correct. But... two games is a small sample size against his body of work this year (which has been quite underwhelming).

His ~ 1.5 Assist/TO ratio, 3-point shooting and defense are a bit problematic.

His +/- has gone for -13.9 to -9.5, so there is progress. But many of the rookie PGs in this weak draft class have already passed him.

One thing that would help him in a big way is to be able to hit a 3-point shot. Last year .325 and this year .318 won't cut it. He is going to need to get around .380 to have a chance... could happen but a higher probability that he won't.

Team definitely looking more energized under NB. Keeping Scoot in over Simons in the last game, playing Deni more...even Ayton looks like he's trying on defense more.

But small sample size.

I like seeing Scoot and Sharpe taking advantage of their midrange games a bit more.

My eye test was that the rotations were tighter, there were fewer possessions wasted on hero ball type antics, and late game clock management was better. Also IIRC we won a coaches challenge, I feel like Chauncey is particularly bad about using those.

Not that Nate is the answer or anything, but almost nothing seems to be lost by Billups not being there.

I do like to point out that a significant part of the HC position is political in nature, with much of the work going on behind closed doors. How the coach interacts with players, how they work with the front office, the way they manage team dynamics and set expectations etc. Its more than calling plays, it comes with a lot of other paperwork off-court, metaphorically but probably literally as well. I could see a situation where a coach is maybe not the best in-game coach but they build a phenomenal lockerroom and environment for the players, a Ted Lasso type, and find success that way.

Of course I don't think that is Billups, as a former player and point guard he is expected to have exceptional game management instincts, which is an expectation I don't think he has lived up to.
