This season's really made me lose all the respect I had for the malingering "stars" on this team as well as the hands-off crooks who own it. Lee hasn't had much to work with and he's the worst head coach in the league by a country mile, so expecting more than one more win before the ASG break is akin to praying the sun will rise in the west tomorrow. But what does two or three wins do anyway? Nothing.
It's never gonna get better with this franchise. The fish rots from the head.
Trash ownership, trash coaching, trash players who don't expect to win and shrug when they lose (assuming they even play; most of the time a paper cut leads to a three-week paid vacation). And it's all for the greatest prizes:
- a historic losing streak
- a barrage of "haha Hornets suck" on social media when the logo pops up with the fifth pick on draft lottery night
- another raw, unproven rookie to get thrown to the wolves
- more empty seats and a 30th-place attendance ranking
- another injury-filled, defense-free, 82-game three-point clanging contest next year.
Then lather, rinse, repeat for another couple decades. Three decades of definitely only being a year or two away.
Flame me all you like (to be honest, I'd rather read that than watch these idiots fake injuries and get paid $25 million to miss threes for two hours). The game is not fun to watch when it's ASG-level running up and down and praying your team clangs one less three than the other team over 48 minutes. And that's the good teams.
It's the awful way the NBA games are played that sucks, this team's eternal ineptitude on the court, off the court and even during halftime, and it's the "hey coach y'know I ain't playing tonight, I need to rest and I played last night so gimme a week or two off" that's turning me off of this stupid league for good.
And while y'all may hate to read negative things that cloud your eternal optimism, we share enough of an investment in this team that we log in here whether we're spouting positive or negative comments. It's the investment that counts. You can turn a fan from positive to negative but as long as he's not apathetic and tuning out, you're OK.
Well, I'm becoming just apathetic. And I've never been apathetic about this team since I first picked up a ball. But there are far too many options in sports and entertainment for me to continue wasting my time with a league I don't like featuring malingering players I don't respect playing for an inept franchise that hates its fans.
