Last season, we only lost the season series to a single team -- the Nuggets. We already lost our season series to the Pacers and calendar hasn't flipped yet.

Celtics hitting a tough stretch coming up. Yikes. They could use Glasszingis badly. Just feels like a 55-27 season around there.

This team still averaging 50 3 point attempts per game. Again that’s not basketball and high percentage basketball. It’s just not. They need to trim that down.

What is it with this team? Why can’t they be consistent? I guess its championship hangover but boy are they frustrating

Guess this rules out the #1 seed.
This season's Celtics is not as hungry as last season's Celtics.
That's why a repeat is really very hard to do.
Tim Duncan and the Spurs have 5 championships from the 1990s to the early 2010s, but not a single repeat.

Joe Mazzulla has the highest winning percentage by a coach, winning 73.5 percent of the time.
Quick name me another coach in history. That took over for a team that literally was a game or two from a title.
Literally Joe inherented the most talented team in the league and brad actually made it better.

They’re a young team. Again like you said they need to want it. Defensively they just haven’t been there. Too inconsistent. It’s pathetic how lazy they are. Again you’re not winning games hosting up over 54 3 point attempts.

We was 37-4 at the Garden last year.
This year: 12-6 to start.

That's true.
Frustrating is the right word to describe how Celtic fans are feeling.
But it is what it is.
They're not as hungry.
The team is also very cautious with every minor injury.
I'm sure Jrue and KP would have played if this were a playoff game.
We haven't seen the complete starting 5 play a lot of games this season.
There's just no continuity.

Yeah, 50 3-pointers is too much, but there's no way that's happening in the playoffs.
The style of play and the pace of the game in the playoffs will be different.
So I'm not worried about the 3s.
What bothers me is the defense.
White has really been exposed this season.
He's just not solid when it comes to staying in front of his man.

I always thought this group was capable of winning 3 championships because they’re still young but they have always had this laziness about them. Inconsistent. This would be such a huge waste if they don’t turn it around and compete for another title or two. Look at how the nba is right now. Lakers and warriors are already done and over the hill. In the east you have a couple of teams but you can’t tell me they’re better than us. This comes down to heart an also players performing to their expectations. This team just looks flat and uninspiring and taking a bunch of 3s. 50 attempts per game is a joke. It’s almost like school yard basketball.

via Bobby Manning:
I don't think that's a major issue. You can always swing first but in today's NBA, a 20-pt 1st Q lead can be erased if you can't keep your play at a high level. Consistency and sustained focus esp on D.
Big part of it is personnel -- healthier last season than this season, more minutes/reliance on PP, slippage from White and Hauser etc. but I've also noticed we're less prepared to begin games compared to last season. Preparation was never an issue before. In-game adjustments always have been, at least in the regular season. But now we seem to be just going through the motions in the 1st half (this December) while the other team has a clear game plan they're executing.
Agreed with some posters that Joe needs to expand his rotation though fatigue shouldn't even be an issue since it's only December and schedule has been light with so many day offs.
Tatum: "We gotta start swinging first. We gotta get back to that."

Derrick White: "I think This might be the toughest stretch that I've been on since I've been here on the Celtics."
Not counting the postseason, I agree. Also, I have the memory of a fish so maybe we've had a worse stretch in Joe's 1st year that I don't remember.

White should look at their schedule incoming. Picked a bad time to have this stretch.

Shai just put on master show. 35pts on 14/19 shooting for a guard. With 4 blocks smh. Now that’s a front runner for the mvp no doubt. and his team is winning. At this point it’s his to lose. Jokic has a shot if his team turns it around and finishes 3rd seed and him averaging a triple double. Giannis, Luka And JT rounds up top 5, but doens’t have a lick of a chance.

Bill Russell took over a team that had won eight straight championships, and promptly failed to make the Finals at all.

I thought the last game was out reset, I was wrong.
It starts with the defence, they’re not even trying to guard. Easy shot after easy shot, on the other end we are just chasing 3’s.
Defend. Drive the ball. Kick it.

Riley won 4 titles with the Lakers. Not 5.
And you're comparing apples to oranges. Riley won those 4 titles with the Lakers, over the course of 9 seasons. Has Joe been the HC of the Celtics for 9 seasons? Of course not.
Joe is only in his 3rd season as HC (only Joe's 2nd full season without the interim tag).
Joe has coached 2 postseasons so far as HC..he has 1 title. Pat Riley, in his first 2 postseasons with the Lakers, won 1 title. That's comparing apples to apples.
And Riley had Magic, Kareem and Worthy which is much better than Tatum, Brown and whoever our 3rd guy is..Porzingis who never plays?
32 games into his 3rd season, Joe is 23-9. 32 games into his 3rd season with the Lakers, Pat Riley was 20-12. So I don't really buy the argument that Riley should've had more leeway than Joe.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

No one said pat Riley's team wasn't stacked.. And i'm not even claiming he was a great coach. But clearly having a stacked roster helped him win the title multiple times. But I will give him some benefit of the doubt since he beat a great boston team two different times
Regular season record aside.I'm not even sure coach Joe is as good as doc.Rivers.. Remember doc rivers won a title and he turned to be a horrible coach most years. Also , like Joe, he was extremely poor at making adjustments.
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

Re: Critics Agree: That Sequel Sucked! Loss vs IND 12/29
We didn't even shoot that "bad". We were average. Dating back to last season, when we've shot at 54% eFG% or better, we were 74-6 coming into this game. In all those losses, we failed to limit the opponent to 56% eFG. Same case today.
So once again, it's the defense. Second worst defensive rating of the season.
