Orlando has 6 SRP in the next 3 seasons - what is going to happen to them in your opinion?

I don't think we can sell them anymore, can we? I think we are leaning in on using the g-league as a farm system.

How about compare our records? I know they’re in the West, but we’re also missing our top half in every statistical category. We’re as good as them, why shouldn’t we try hard just because they’re old? Are you just being a gentleman and waiting your turn?

Btw, Both of their superstars left their previous teams in ruins because they didn’t feel like they had a chance to compete for a title. That stuff happens and being under contract doesn’t really prevent it (right or wrong).

Curiosly, D’Lo looks like a “Good Luck Chuck” type because every team that has traded him has become a title contender shortly after.

Traded from LA to BKN so LA could start the LeBron era.

Traded from BKN to GSW. BKN had the players to contend but not the health. Warriors started tanking.

Traded from GSW to MIN. GSW win a championship shortly after. Minnesota are a play-in/lottery team again.

Traded from MIN to LAL. Minnesota landed Conley and NAW and they made the conference finals last season. LAL have fallen since he landed there.

Now LA is sending him to BKN, LA is probably about to end up in the finals real soon.

OKC brutalized Grizzlies, winning 11 straight.
Boston losing footing in chase for best record ( not that they need it ).

Lol…that’s a pretty rough resume…he always looks enticing on paper- but some guys just don’t contribute to winning

The Weltman apologists will never give you a satisfactory answer to that. With a core as young as ours you can add quality and not only still develop but probably develop faster and further. All that while winning more games.

But, it won't happen. Weltman will point to the standings and say its our depth that's the superpower. Which isn't incorrect, but we can't keep paying and finding minutes for everybody.

We’re in a position where deals CAN be made with future cap concerns…other teams in our competitive stratosphere flat out CAN’T because of their cap situations today. That’s the advantage to being “ahead of schedule”…I can’t grasp why pumping the brakes ever makes sense - we’re too young to be good? Good news- we’re already good…what an opportunity to get great!

There’s just no logic to “settle down- these things take time” followed by some bumper sticker/meme “wisdom” about not skipping steps/organic/don’t make bad trades(no s**t)/double down on mistakes like Jett and hang on until they magically develop/it’s not a title year-so don’t do anything to improve. :banghead:

There are good moves and bad moves. Panic moves and measured moves. Disruptive changes and obvious productive steps forward. It’s like even upgrades on the fringes of the rotation are so terrifying before they’re even analyzed honestly. The cap and aprons are a concern that must be considered, but not a death sentence to any action. Cap/Salary/Contract management can be weaponized. Our cap has been well- managed to MAKE a deal, not to celebrate our ability to make a deal if we ever wanted to. Trades don’t have to be bad or short-sighted, especially from our current position.

These old never-played, too smart for the room guys high-fiving each other and returning, essentially, the same team with the same defects every October, putting away their slide rules & spreadsheets with satisfied grins, ready for their in-season hibernation…I dream of Pat Riley walking in, taking their girlfriends, and slapping them silly

Feels like half of the league sees no value in second round picks and half of the league over values second round picks.

OKC has 20 second round picks from 2025-2031

I really don’t get it…they’re like Monopoly money when you consider what they actually become 98/100 times…maybe a G-League guy that’s as likely as not to get outplayed & outworked by a ferocious undrafted type (like Queen) who never wants to sleep in his car again. They’re like a symbol of “we got draft equity” when you’re just trying to unload a contract or a guy who wants out.

OKC might end up seeing a lot of their held assets wasted.

I'd add that being in a weak East is another reason to put the pedal down. BOS, or any other East team doesn't have to fight through the bloodbath that is a West playoff bracket...but they'll still have every chance for a ring without any asterisks if they win the Finals...in fact, they'll be favored.

If I was a GM / PBO, I would only draft-N-stash. There are a lot of Euroleague guys worth owning rights to, after all.
