Rudy on the team still means a top 5 defense. That's clearly worth the salary

Rudy is still Rudy. In fact the big difference is him hitting a much higher percentage of free throws (last game was ugly, but overall he has been better.) It is the passing to Rudy that has dried up and become less reliable when it is thrown.

Exactly the point. Why extend Rudy if you put around him players who do not play defense and not good at passing? Kind of mistake here....

Passing and passing to Rudy are different things. Plenty of guys who are good passers don’t realize that when you throw low you diminish the chances of a catch. DLo couldn’t do, Ant and Jaden were better at it, but you gotta throw high to Rudy. When in any doubt at all, throw high.

Value should be creeping up. Just hope we don't get cute or think we should hold on to Randle

I was hearing D'Angelo Russell might get bought out and was thinking Minnesota would be the perfect location for him? The Suns or 76ers would also be an option.

The Magic don't want anything to do with Randle.

Am I starting to get so desperate that I am considering this?

Mike is (was?) the team leader, but he has never seemed to find his game after starting the season with his wrist injury. I think Dillingham probably isn’t ready, as his horrible +/- seems to indicate.

But DLo? He doesn’t defend, and would be hunted by every opponent. He’s a good scorer when he’s on - we could use that. He’s a good passer (except to Rudy), and has familiarity passing to half the team,

Overall though, I think he’s a culture crusher. Ant is so impressionable, that when DLo loafs on defense, Ant might too. Worse, there are rumors he was actively mocking Rudy on the court and in the locker room when Gobert missed DLo’s bounce passes (he seemed to refuse to throw him lobs).

Yeah, we need PG help, and DLO has talent, but no. I think he’d hurt the team, and I personally can’t stomach the guy.

Besides, isn't Golden State's turn next?

Ok...been a bit since I worked on a hated one...

Cha in: D. Ayton
Out: Bridges and Williams

Charlotte gets a valuable toy for Ball and could become a force in the East.

Por in: Randle and Bridges

Exchanges Ayton for Randle which in someways would be a push, but sets them up for huge expiring. A rotation of Barnes, Randle, and Grant would be an interesting forward combo next to Clingan and Williams.
Out: Simons and Ayton

Minnesota in: Simons and Williams
Out: Randle

Ding dong Randle is gone. Williams learns from Gobert and replaces him eventually. **Now the part people hate** Simons takes PG next to Edwards. Simons is naturally a PG.

**Approved in Sportrac**

I did another version where Charlotte gets Ayton and Grant, gives up Williams to MN, and Bridges, Green, and Micic to Portland.

Cha -
PG Ball, Mann
SG Miller, Curry
SF Grant, Martin
PF Williams, Saluan/Diabetes
C. Ayton, Richards

Por-
PG Micic, Henderson/Banton
SG Sharpe, Green, Thybule
SF Bridges/Avdija
PF Randle, Camara
C Clingan, Williams

For what it is worth, I don't think that D'Angelo Russell would be open to coming back here. I wouldn't be surprised if Brooklyn keeps him, they liked him a lot during his first stint.

Thankfully for us, as a player making more than the MLE, he is prohibited from signing with us after a buyout/waiver because we are (way) over the first tax apron.

That might work if Ayton didn't suck and make so much money.
The Hornets much prefer Bridges and Williams I'm sure.

Except Ayton has actually had a really good December playing on a crap team with no one to get him the ball. ( I dislike him) How much do numbers go up playing with Ball in a very weak Eastern Conference

Too bad Dlo can't get bought out and go back to Lakers.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

In a heartbeat. Duren is a fantastic rebounder with very good size and athleticism. He hasn’t put it all together on defense yet, but he’s young and would be learning behind Rudy.

I like Duren too, but I was surprised that many on the DET board seems very down on him; somebody even called him DeAndre Jordan 2.0!

That said, I only listen to board consensus, and don’t blindly agree.

It's a bit similar to the consensus Wolves community has had on Jaden over the past few years. It's someone who has been hyped up as "the future", but that comes with expectations externally of astronomical growth and development.

I will say this....I drafted him in the fantasy league here, and it feels like he has underwhelmed. However, I see this as a bit of a role issue in Detroit as compared to a performance issue. Detroit has a logjam at center between Duren and Isaiah Stewart, a couple of promising young bigs.

Williams might have the slight advantage, but Duren should be far more attainable.

Mark Williams played in:
43 games as a rookie.
19 games last year.
9 so far this year.

I love the talent, but he makes TimeLord look like an Iron Man...

I was all about Duren in the draft, if we can land him for cheap and use him in a role like Dallas uses Gafford, I am all about it. Again, it makes Rudy very tradeable this off season to get cap space if needed
