Re: 2024-25 Regular Season Thread Vol. 2
Razor thin loses this year to Detroit 2x, Sacramento, and Orlando (in which we lead by 22 heading into the 4th) quarter. Had we won those 4 games we'd be 20-12 right now; 4th in the East and tied for the 7th best record in the NBA.

Re: 2024-25 Regular Season Thread Vol. 2
Up and down season this year in an inconsistent role and obviously with 1 foot out the door lingering around.
2 seasons ago: 18-3-6 40% from 3 on 7 attempts 61TS%
Last season: 18-3-6 42% from 3 on 7 attempts 59TS%
After Terry i now worry about offensive players coming to Miami but Shooting and passing “should” be able to translate worst case. He’s a better passer than anyone we’ve had in the Jimmy era I would say

Sacramento still stings, that was a clear push off for the rebound.
I think we’re near the top of the league in losses after leading by 15+ points. Just so many games you could argue we should’ve won or would’ve won if the ball bounces a different way. They could start going our way with a little added help. Get a quality PG and big and let’s see what we can do.

Jimmy comes back and we have a favorable 10 game stretch, this is the time to make a run. 4 of those should be guaranteed wins, 7-3 over this stretch would be very solid and should be the goal at minimum

We can’t sign him. His contract value close to 19 per is too high. Being in the first apron limits us to 12.5 million or below for buyout players.

Fuxk, I forgot about that rule. That’s garbage lol
What if he agreed to a $12.5M buyout? Does that matter or is it just based on beginning salary?

Nope. Not gonna work. We’ll be able to sign Tucker when he’s bought out. He’s at 11.5

Yeah such a bum ass rule. Teams into the 2nd apron can’t sign any buyouts.

Every player has a player style. The way Rozier is playing this year (not last year for the Heat) is inexcusable unless there is an unreported injury or he still having symtoms from the neck/back mystery injury. For one Rozier was never a point guard, he is truly a shooting guard. Russell is a natural point guard and his game has always been similar to Dragic but more of a point than Dragic. He is a career good shooter. I think Spo system fits Russell very well. For the cost it is very worth getting Russell. He is not a star or go too player but a very good role player. When he was asking for 30 mill that was just ridiculous. I think go after Russell allows the Heat to have assets for another move.

Yeah, but that would have put a serious dent in my prediction Miami would win 45 games this year

January will actually be the first full month this season that Miami doesn't have more road games than home. March presents a great opportunity to cement position with 12 home games (only 5 road games). Feb is gonna be tough.
Home games by month (road games in parenthesis):
Oct = 3 (1)
Nov = 5 (8)
Dec = 6 (7)
Jan = 8 (8)
Feb = 3 (9)
Mar = 12 (5)
Apr = 4 (3)

Dang that’s wild considering we have a 6 game road trip in January. This is a perfect time to make a run then maybe early February (or before) we tinker the roster and get some added help for Feb and finish strong on March/april. I’d love to not be in the play in this year

- Lose on a Domantis tip-in with 0.2 to Sac.
- Lose on absolute last play shenanigans vs Phoenix. That silly one where we needed a three and Rozier put a lead pass to Jimmy for 2, then he dribbled out and passed to Herro with no time left.
- Lose to Pistons in OT.
- Herro misses a 3 down 1 with 3 seconds left vs Bucks.
- 3 point loss to Toronto after just beating them 2 days before. Herro missed 3 with 28.1 secs would have tied it.
- another OT loss to Pistons after being up 8 in OT.
- drop a 22 point 4th quarter lead to Orlando.
I've got 7 woulda coulda shoulda games.
That doesn't include double digit 3rd quarter leads vs Knicks (13 points) or that second Pacers game that fell apart (tied game with 5 mins left after handedly beating them the previous game).
That is one more good possession away from 23-7 and third best in the league.

Re: 2024-25 Regular Season Thread Vol. 2
One of my last days off I've thrown something together.
Based on this year's stats with a minimum of 10 games played and 10 FGA/G, I've tried to narrow down the points per possession for the top 20 players meeting my criteria. Miami has 2 in the top 20.
TS% does a good job for it being a simple way of seeing scoring efficiency.
For possessions I'm using FGA + ((FTA - And1s)/2), I'm missing 1 stat of FTA by Ts (free fts from things like 3 second calls)
