Hornets: Boom Boom Boom, Let Me Hear You Say, Ayo AYO
Hornets trade Nick Richards for Ayo Dosunmu, adding a secondary playmaker to the starting unit.
Bulls get a cheap rim protector in advance of parting ways with Vucevic.
Both players have one year on their contracts remaining.

A+ for the title, but I have Ayo as worth not an insignificant amount more than Richards. Backup centers just aren't that valuable or hard to find.

Chicago still has Vuc until they don’t and has the two way Jalen behind him.
I think a team pays a first for Ayo if Chicago made him available. And they really should make him available..

Okay, Nick Richards + 31 + 33 as an equivalent of 30 or better.

I am good on Ayo, dude is a 1% Def EPM this year and the offense is nowhere near good enough to make up for it.

I'm not sold on defensive statistics. But my eye test tells me this dude is relentless on both ends, knows what to do with the ball in his hands, gets downhill, and averages 5.6 assists per 36. He'd allow LaMelo to get his legs under him off ball on occasion.
Ayo is the type of worker Peterson wants here to set a winning culture. I love his tenacity.
I think he'd be fun in a full court game quarterbacked by LaMelo.

Yeah, I think he’s a starter in the league. But - from Dallas I would gladly do something like Maxi/Grimes/first for Ayo/PF making 8 mil. Ayo can play with either Luka or Kyrie. And some with both and is affordable next year..
Don’t think that PF is Jalen obviously, but some three team deal. Some team would want Grimes for an 8-12 mil PF. (Add one of Exum, Powell, Prosper depending on what is needed..)

Yeah, on draft night or now?
But I do think the two seconds and whatever Richards value is definitely “counts” as a first. Just not sure if Chicago needs to accept stacked value like that instead of just getting a real first.

Vuc and probably Jalen Smith as well. But even setting aside the roster specifics, Richards is not a starting-caliber center in the league. A team shouldn't overpay for him just because he'd be a starter on their team because they don't have a better option.

I have him as a starter as well. If the Mavs were to offer Grimes plus 24, that wins the bid, but leaves the Bulls without a rim protector. Plus Luka is out for how long? Pick 24 might be much higher by the deadline, and you don't trade that for Ayo when you already have Luka, Kyrie and Grimes.

I think Vuc is a goner, and don't see the Bulls starting Jalen Smith against starting 5's.
I see Nick Richards as a cheap rim protector who can start for Chicago. That is not easy to find for any team.

This could apply in a bunch of spots and is such a good point. We see too many posts claiming another team is desperate and only my team has the solution so they must meet my asking price.
Doesn't matter if your guy is marginally better than their guy if you guy still isn't good enough. Teams aren't going to overpay for a guy they will still be wanting to upgrade.

I think it is pretty clear Ayo is not a starter, he was a FA late into the process and the Bulls were able to squeeze him for a 3/21 contract which should tell you how the rest of the league values him to some degree.

I can see that argument and he is a reserve on the Bulls, but he's an upgrade to Josh Green and you love him (not really though).

Today he backs up Vucevic and allows Smith to play some minutes at the 4
What he does is open up possibilities for a Vucevic trade. The Bulls aren't required to get a center back for Vuc. Smith and Richards can split the minutes occasionally play together. Moving Ayo is becoming easier with Ball getting more minutes, THT playing more, puts Lavine at the SG more than the SF.
If CHA has a later 1st early 2nd to move that would make it easier to do.
