It's always hard to win in Denver, but if we manage the minutes hopefully we can deal with the altitude.

Niang is such a matchup dependant player.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Defense was not on the docket tonight but nothing like a W to start off the trip.

Yeah, Denver was incredibly efficient offensively, but when we're knocking down 3's like that it just doesn't matter.
We'll probably break the 50 3pt attempts in a game mark soon.

They had 50 attempts from deep against the Wizards.JonFromVA wrote:Yeah, Denver was incredibly efficient offensively, but when we're knocking down 3's like that it just doesn't matter.

Likely more on the way, but one of the cool things about this Cavs team is that you can rarely just point to one thing. It wasn't just that Braun and Murray aren't great perimeter defenders, it isn't just that Jokic camps in the paint, it wasn't just that Mitchell got hot.
This team just keeps pouring it on and even when we give up the lead, it's rare that we don't bounce right back with a big run of our own.

Yeah, the 2 wins against the Nuggets haven't been particularly close this season.JonFromVA wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:They had 50 attempts from deep against the Wizards.JonFromVA wrote:Yeah, Denver was incredibly efficient offensively, but when we're knocking down 3's like that it just doesn't matter.

If a team is gonna allow the entire core 4 to get going, like last night, i truly do not believe a single team stands a chance.

I like Malone as a coach, but Westbrook just has zero interest in navigating a PNR defensively. Garland got where ever he wanted last night. That forced help and opened up 3 point shooters (when Garland wasn't shooting uncontested floaters). The reality is we have to get through Boston which means the best defensive guard in the NBA will be on Garland.

Yeah, they're a tough team in a 7 game series. Lots of good switchable defenders.jbk1234 wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:Yeah, the 2 wins against the Nuggets haven't been particularly close this season.JonFromVA wrote:

We can score on Boston, we just have to be healthy.

If the Celtics assign Derrick White to Garland, the Cavs should give serious thought to having Mitchell assume more PG duties that series.

They have that option, but Garland can also just blow past him and get in the paint. He just has to realize White can block him from behind if he's not careful.
If Garland and Mitchell aren't being overplayed or playing hurt, there's things they can do that nobody in the league can stop.

I'm probably Garland's biggest fan, but the Cavs should be prepared to run the offense through whoever Jrue Holiday is guarding. Derrick White is the best defensive guard in the NBA with a ridiculous wing-span. Putting White on the secondary ball handler is sub optimal from the Celtics perspective and either one of Garland or Mitchell can force him to stay home at the 3 point line. Force the other 4 guys to do the heavy lifting on defense.
What I saw in our first meeting was a team that studied Garland's tendencies and showed him the illusion of an opening when there was none due to White's ability to recover.

I don't expect a repeat of Garland's 3-21 turd.
