The rim protection def sucked but I still kinda thought we were going to win that game until the string of bad possessions in the 4th quarter. So I guess I decided to chalk this loss up as weird and re-watch the game from Friday lol. (I'm tired of losing games the last few weeks so it might just be a defense mechanism on my part to protect my mental health haha.)

Caitlin Cooper, analyst/writer for the Pacers, also noticed.
The Celtics won or tied the regular-season series with every team last season with the exception of Denver.

The Pacers already won this season, 2-1.

Pacers have now alternated RS wins & losses with Cs in last 8 matchups. And of course we had those 3 really close playoff games last May. Looks like Carlisle knows how to play the Cs.

Turner had a ton of easy shots inside with just simple passes, all because our guys can’t guard the perimeter. Also, we are bigger with hali and nembhard/tj inside together, yet we bail them out by chucking all the 3’s we can get. We were careless with the ball, leading to a sloppy transition D.

Exactly! Boggles my mind how Tatum doesn’t bring Hali up every time down the court, that’s money. JB took Nembhard to rack a few times but JT just wanted to jack threes.

In the playoffs, the defense will be tougher and the pace slows down.

The only shot that's really going to be open is the 3-point shot.

Steph Curry won 4 championships relying on the 3-point shot.

We need JT to master that shot because the Celtics will need that from him.

He won’t master that shot. He’s not an elite shooter. Its better for him to just take open 3’s and mix it up by attacking inside, with some post up moves. If he continues to jack up 3’s non stop, he will probably lose the awards again to JB. Like what you’ve said, defense is tighter in the playoffs, so even getting wide open 3’s are hard. Problem with JT, he takes a lot of contested 3’s in the playoffs. All the good games he had, was because he took it inside.

I actually agree with you.

But what we say here will NEVER influence JT's thinking.

Might as well support JT or find another player to follow and support.

JT just does not care.

Nobody can tell him what or what not to do.

Not completely disagreeing with you, but I would be happy to see Jayson losing the awards to Jaylen 8 days a week, as this would mean we be rolling come June!

I couldn’t agree more. In the opening game against the Knicks I remember reading someone’s post in the game thread that said “this is probably the worst thing that could happen to Tatum”. They were referring to him hitting threes with his “new” shot. They thought it would make him fall in love with it. That post couldn’t be more true. Now, there are some threes that I love him taking, like the high screen when he gets a centre switched onto him. I just think he could open them up more with more drives.

It’s also hard because he gets zero respect from the refs.. he gets mauled going to the hoop. Then you look at players like Hali in the last game or SGA or Butler. The way they are reffed literally changes how defenders play them.

In fairness they truly did miss tons of open shots. Watching I kept thinking these are really good looks we're missing and if we keep getting these kind of looks they'll go in and we'll be fine. Except, not enough of these went in and oh yeah the defense remained lousy as well. Missing shots definitely puts pressure on your defense (especially missed layups that turn into layups on the other end, and missed 3's that turn into long rebounds and fast breaks for the other team), but not staying in front of your man does a lot to your defensive pressure too.
