I would take my chances Mitch stays healthy they trade him for Val. Mitch at minimum has value against CLE and Philly two teams we could likely face in playoffs.

Not saying Mitch untouchable but I don't want to acquire a big that will get exposed in P&R defense.

I wouldn't say nothing. His height disrupted some stuff and he's a really good defensive and offensive rebounder.
But agreed, he's not really a rim protector.

It's not just the rim protection. They purposely put a smaller defender on KAT so the Knicks couldn't run Brunson and KAT P&Rs. Val just can't move his feet. He's a great rebounder and has great touch on offense. Good passer too. Just not sure that's what we need. You couldnt play KAT and Val together.

I would much rather go after a Beef Stew someone who can defend and also play some small ball 4. Like a better version of precious if we were going down that route.

I feel like a healthy mitch though gives us just another play style we can win at. We could go Mitch and KAT vs Cleveland and destroy them on the glass.

Stew also has that toughness edge the Knicks can use in the front court. He''l eff someone up when needed.

there was a moment late in the game where he recognized that the team needed to rebound better to combat the wizards' bigs

so he played mcbride , hart, anunoby, achiuwa, and towns on the floor together

no plans

There are times it seems like Rose telegraphs his moves and other timers it seems like they come out of nowhere so not sure how much to believe the Val rumors...I just won't because he's not the direction the team is going.

Val is not a playoff center, you're in trouble if he's on the floor in any game that matters.

Even after he made three in the second quarter, he got a pass for an open look and passed it up, faked and dribbled instead. He needs to realize he's a legit three point shooter now, no more hesitation

I think he would fit right in with the toughness and a local kid.

He has also has some offensive skills. Has made 3's before and decent FT shooter.

Think he is the type of ideal fit if the Knicks don't trust Mitchs health.

That's probably the better move

I get that Stewart is a bit better than Precious as a C but at 6'8 he's no bigger. Is he enough of a rim protector?

this is sum what true for me...I didnt even watch a full Kat game after he was drafted. I saw some highlights and decided he was soft.
I ran with that falsehood for 8 years until I watched last years Minny team because I had JMAC on my baf team. Kat stopping the Joker
and his full game play that I saw- made me a believer...and from a cap standpoint I knew we had to move Randle...I didnt know Randle the player but once I saw our team last December for the first time - I knew he was the most logical move...
Very happy with Kat being a Knick for several reasons...

Defense is critical but I was won over by that block on Precious. Sometimes sheer size is a deterrent.... Dude is so strong that he cannot be moved and he always seems to take the shot that he wants.

We would be sending Mitch in that trade. Add their first and snag one of those kids they have and then we have the discussion. I like the youth they have. They would have their own lottery pick and it fees them up for trading future firsts. I want one of their young studs or no deal.

Edit: for a shot at Cooper, I want two of their young players.

I dont think we should trade Mitch anymore...I trust that Mitch will come back and have his best year and be injury free JB...yeah -might sound delusional but thats my gut feeling on this...

I wouldn't trade Mitch for Val (I think others have covered this ... mph? jb?). So that would leave trading Precious and Deuce and signing McCullars to a rookie min deal of some sort. Then you have Val as supposedly cover for both Mitch and KAT. But how do the Mitch-Val minutes work.
