Lakers add De’Aaron Fox, prime speed in the backcourt
The Lakers have some negative salary weight, some draft assets and need some team speed and an all star in his prime. Fox gives them an all star level guard for the next 5-7 years. They take in Orlando Robinson to balance the slalries under the trade rules.
The Kings have built the BeamTeam around Sabonis and Fox but that core seems to have reached its expiration date. They can add a plus guard in Reaves and receive TWO firsts to take on bad money and years.
Lakers trade
Austin Reaves
Jarred Vanderbilt
Gabe Vincent
2029 Unprotected 1st
2031 1-4 Protected 1st
Kings trade
DeAaron Fox
Orlando Robinson

The Lakers simply do not have the assets to make a competitive offer for Fox (unless they're willing to move AD). Plenty of teams would offer more than this.

The audacity to protect 2031 when it already isn’t enough.

I literally expected LAL fans to say back, “Uhhh, no, Reaves is better than Fox.”
Reaves and 2 FIRSTS seems fair to me. I suppose taking back the bad money of Gabe and Vando swings the balance too far.

1. Fox is overrated.
2. San Antonio should just sign Fox as a free agent.

Sacramento will get better offers. LA has the assets for guys like Ingram/LaVine/Randle who are very flawed but still reasonably good.

I suspect teams offer more.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Yes, but my understanding is that Fox wants 4yrs/$229 million extension from the team that trades for him … this lowers his value

Cap is rising 10 percent per year for the next 2 seasons, at least. If he is worth 40 million now (I think he is) then two years from now the equivalent will be about 49 million. I don't think that depresses his value at all.

Perfect. Now the Lakers just need to add a couple more assets.

Fox is all star level player, but not all NBA (going forward) and the dude has won 3 playoff games in his career. Alex Caruso has had a more impactful career to this point as a 1st team all defense guard, despite Fox scoring and speed.
How many assets is Fox fairly worth?

Which teams offering more than 2 unprotected picks and reaves? Orl and Spurs can but not convinced they will.

Weird way to justify his value. Offer this package for Caruso if he is so much better.

I would add Houston for sure and maybe before those two.
Brooklyn too good to tank.. Utah wants a star to pair with Lauri?

Spurs would also eclipse this package I would think.

Not saying Caruso is better but at his best he has been, arguably more impactful. Feel free to disagree but Alex Caruso is beside the point, I shouldn’t have even mentioned him.
To me, unless SAS wants to overpay with draft picks, I’d rather have Reaves and two Lakers firsts if I’m the Kings than a lot of the other deals I’ve seen suggested on Twitter. If Sacto can do better, they can do better.

I do think if you flip Huerter with Vincent and the LAL picks and land Sac “Murray” it could work?
Not too sure on salaries. Or value. But at least it blends better and NOP might want two unprotected LAL firsts again.
