Reaves is a guy I'd be looking into, after the season, if we want to move off Middleton, or maybe as part of a package for Dame. He could become Middleton (who was good enough for a title as the #2) - playmaking, shot-making, clutch, & decent d.

Reaves is awesome when allowed to play PG. He doen't fit next to Dame, let him replace Dame. Send Dame to the Lakers, get Reaves and others (Cam Johnson? Herb Jones?), and we're better. The challenge is finding teams to absord all the crappy contracts the Lakers have to send out to fit in Dames monster contract.

Developing Ajax couldn’t be more important considering the competition for acquiring perimeter defenders.

Herb Jones of course is someone we’ve discussed on that front before — this reference to him seems kind of shoehorned in there, certainly could be the writer fishing, but also possible he was mentioned on background and there are negotiations through the media afoot:

The Mavericks have contemplated trying to add an impact perimeter defender before the Feb. 6 trade deadline, front-office sources on rival teams told The Athletic. The New Orleans Pelicans’ Herb Jones, who last season was the only non-center to make the NBA’s All-Defensive First Team, is one player who fits that description. But there is little belief in NBA circles that the Pelicans will actually move him.

What do we think of Gabe Vincent?

Lakers draft assets + Gabe + Vanderbilt + Cam Reddish via minimum (linked to the Bucks before) for Brook works under the cap.

Lakers draft assets + Gabe + Cam via min for Bobby does too.

What picks we’d require is a big question as well — especially if we’d be parlaying them immediately for another upgrade.

Michael Scotto: Having acquired the wing defender they sought in Finney-Smith, the next item for the Lakers on their list is a backup center. The Lakers will continue to try and acquire Wizards center Jonas Valanciunas or another backup center on the trade market with their remaining future second-round draft capital, and Gabe Vincent is expected to be dangled in talks as well, league sources told HoopsHype.

Report from the Summer fwiw:

Jake Fischer: Brook Lopez has been one of the primary options on the Lakers’ board of hopeful acquisitions, sources said.

I'd like to see AJ Green be a little more aggressive in attacking the basket and then pulling up for a midrange (I understand it's not an ideal shot). Below is a mixtape of him in high school and mirrors what I saw in AAU ball.

He is a better ball hander than he has shown on the Bucks. When I first saw him he was playing point guard and no one on the court could stay in front of him.

If he wants to have some room on his 3 pointer, he needs to put a little fear in teams that he can get by them and shoot. He has the tools.

Bulls beat writer Joe Cowley thinks White will be available.

White would probably take Bobby to a 3rd team plus the '31 pick. I think Ayo would be a better target and move for the Bulls to free up more time for Terry. Terry, White, and Dosunmo will be up for an upgrade in salary after next season.

Our scouting report for Dosunmu had us leaving him unguarded at the 3 point line, and it worked. No way we trade for him.

I agree with your projected price for White. Tough to swallow, but we're at least getting an established youngster. Hoping to get them to throw back a 2nd to package to get Banton.

Ayo would has the same shooting struggles as Ajax while being a better passer, rebounder, and finisher. Ayo running the second unit provides depth to keep Green and Trent Jr off of the best guard/Wing on the floor at that time. Also, the Bucks needs more athletic depth

Regarding White: if you get White you really don't need Banton. You save the 2nd for next season to use with Pat expiring salary to get a player.

Banton is the backup 4 we need, so we don't have to play Prince there, and he can play the 4 in Giannis at center lineups.

I don't consider Ayo a better defender than Green or GTJ because he lacks physicality, especially important in playoff basketball.

Ajax averages more rebounds/ 36 than Ayo, but I'll definitely concede that Ayo is a better finisher, and more aggressive getting his shot.

I used to like the idea of Gabe on the bucks but the more I see him play, the more I’m convinced he caught lightning in a bottle in 2023 but is in reality pretty mediocre. He’s a bit like Delon imo.

Can be broken down into multiple deals, but:

MKE: Coby White, Nick Richards, Dalano Banton
SAC: Bobby Portis, Torrey Craig
CHI: Pat Connaughton, Trey Lyles, SAC '27 1st (lottery protected), MKE '31 1st (lottery protected)
CHA: AJ Johnson, Alex Len
PDX: MarJon Beauchamp, PHI '25 2nd, MKE '31 2nd

Dame / Rollins
White / Green
Middleton / Jackson
Giannis / Banton
Lopez / Richards

Going to bed now. Happy New Year, fellow degenerates.

Any thoughts about Davion Mitchell for Pat and the 2031 2nd. He can't shoot but he can set the table and play defense off the bench.
Dealing with people who exhibit the "smartest person in the room" syndrome can be a challenge. One approach is to listen their opinion while also encouraging open-mindedness. It's important to create an environment where all voices are valued.

Didn't watch a ton of the Bulls games. I'm sure he isn't ready now, but I have false hopes of Lonzo Ball fitting in here next year on the Vet min

Lonzo Ball, when he was healthy, was one of the best point guards in the league. The Bulls were actually decent in his short healthy stint in Chicago.

Since then, the Bulls have one of the worst backcourts in the league, in Osunmo and White.

Man, I really like White the player and think he is good for the future. However having Dame and GTJ make him a awkward fit at best this year. Think he is good player who had nice breakout last year. He was also not the type of low efficiency scorer on a bad team type that often get overvalued. He showed steady improvements throughout his Bulls tenure and upped his usage while remaining efficient. But just don't see him raising the ceiling of this years team. His on ball scoring isn't a need nor would his size be plus at SG. His defense isn't something I have ever heard anyone talk about so probably mediocre at best? Suppose he could be that plus bench unit type 6th man scorer. But honestly think are limited assets are better spent chasing a Herb Jones type. If nothing materializes then I say sit pat and hope for health.
Bucks fandom bringing me happiness still seems like a dream.

Don't really get the idea that we need to add another volume scorer to this roster. This team should absolutely be a Top-5 offense with the talent they have right now. If anything, the best way to optimize the offense further would have been to get an elite off-ball wing like Cam Johnson before his price exploded.

I think the idea behind White, Thomas, Reaves, or any other combo guard is to redistribute the scoring you get from Bobby to a guard that can not only score but create for himself and others. Coby White's usg% is lower than Portis' usg% this year and last year so him fitting in should not cause a huge issue. I do not know about his defensive skills but he can always run the second unit. The only real loss might be chemistry and rebounding.

Interested in your scouting report on Banton if you don't mind sharing?

If I understand correctly from the scenario above you'd trade him for MarJon Beauchamp, PHI '25 2nd, MKE '31 2nd.

Gauging whether he really is an asset Portland is likely to liquidate before the deadline -- as well as what kind of contributions we could expect from him in Milwaukee this season and beyond.

Kind of crazy Patty C went from a 20 MPG to DNPs. Not saying the demotion wasn't deserved, but kind of sad seeing the end of his career as he has been a good community Buck. We really needed him to maintain the 38-40% high-volume three point shooting he had for a couple years to be a +Player with his declining athleticism.

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
