This is all well and good. I agree that KAT doesn't get the whistles he should and bla-de-bla-de-bla.

But he's not a MVP candidate (@FN11).

He's playing in the era of someone who plays the same position and is in very real consideration to be the best player of any position to ever play the game. It's boring for the rest. How can you be a mid-90s player and expect to be a real MVP candidate when MJ exists? You can't. Same problem for the rest now. Jokic exists. End of story.

Before this game, KAT was averaging 24.7 ppg, 13.5 rpg, 3.3 assists with a 66.2 TS% (lol), +10.6 net rating and a +3.7 season EPM.

These numbers are ridiculous, and the ppg, rpg and apg will go up after this game.

you can really see a pathway for Kolek to carve out that backup PG role maybe as soon as next year. He is just steady and really runs a solid floor game.

I also was impressed with him on defense...he is always going to struggle but he really fought through some screens and put some effort there. Thats the part where we need to see improvement because Thibs will need to trust him on that end.

His D did look better than when I last watched him in any quasi-significant (for regular season) minutes. I'm not sure how much that was to do with Utah being terrible on offence? However, I totally agree that Thibs should run the experiment more. In fact, if I'm JB maybe I'd take a few games off after the OKC one to see if that could snooker Thibs into understanding what Kolek could do.
