Agbaji is playing well as a low usage 3/D wing shooting 50/40 and has another cheap year left.

Then remove him...
Gafford/Maxi/1st for Poeltl

Why would you give up a first for this Khalil? I know Gaff hasn't had a great season, but this seems a bit knee jerk reactionary, no? Poeltl didn't have FRP value when Tor traded for him, let alone now

Poeltl is a better player, and Maxi jas negative value, maybe replace 1st with PHI 2nd or TOR kicks back POR 2nd.

Poeltl has FRP value not just to Toronto fans. See recent hawks/lakers threads for example. He is a better player than Gafford.

Fwiw I think gafford also has late 1st value but kleber is clear negative so I have Poeltl > combo of gafford and kleber

Sorry for potentially derailing the thread, but how would you value Agbaji alone?

Not sure why this turned into Poeltl, but Dallas shouldn't be investing a first to turn bad salary into him right now. Dallas has bigger needs than upgrading backup center.(and yes I understand Poeltl might start over Lively).

As to the OP, I'd cut out Chicago. And scoop up the asset.

a) you have to send out salary elsewhere to fit under the apron so it wont work straight up between dallas/phoenix as in OP
b) why do you want to downgrade your team when you are trying to win with Doncic? chicago is in asset accumulation mode, not dallas

Yeah but the salary thing is an easy fix. And I feel like I'm either not dropping off much at center for 20 RS minutes or 15 playoff ones or I use that tasty little pick to upgrade my team more than Williams because I definitely feel like I could. PJ is going to play 38-40 minutes in the playoffs so how much better can Williams be than Naji for 10 minutes?

I don't think Dallas drops off enough to justify giving up the pick to turn Nurk into Williams. The nice thing about Williams is he's a long-term piece, but Dallas isn't doing 5 year plans, they are doing win right now plans. And if I could get Nurkic/1st for Gafford I believe I could do better than Williams flipping that.(or flipping something like it)

I would easily take Nurk and that 1st too. Nurk is not great but I think he is really getting railroaded into a scapegoat more than he should since Phoenix has to have someone to blame for their woes and lack of depth. But to start the season most people would have had Nurk and Gafford in the same rough tier of centers. Nurk also gives Dallas a wrinkle at center that they don't currently have with being able to facilitate out of the post some. Also nice to get another center with some girth, Gafford and Lively are not the biggest guys.
