What kind of saboteur broke into the Bulls offices? This is another oddball deal where they get older and still have Lavine and Vucevic. They end up staying 5-10 games under .500 don't get to 10th to keep their pick and maybe get to lose the play in game. Nothing smart about that

OK you put the Bulls as Out for the two picks they don't own so they actually get them. Big deal they have Phillips and Buzelis as young guys needing minutes, Sanogo and Lidell playing in the G League. And a whole bunch of veterans that are either under contract or younger guys nearing extension time. Why would they give up on Jalen Smith to get an ancient PJ Tucker who wouldn't play ahead of anybody and bring in Dwight Powell as the backup center?

I mean, Bulls can still deal LaVine and Vuc in separate deals (although LaVine imo is not that likely before the summer, while Vuc could or should be).

And losing Smith does make Bulls a bit worse too, as a step towards keeping that pick (it may be felt more than it seems, since he is only legit big behind Vucevic).

Yes, he is young, but is an expiring next year and likely not in a long term plan, and one of the 2nds coming back is a really early one, so it has value in a draft like this.

Come deadline, and no other possibilities have come to fruition, I can def see the Clips doing this, esp if they can finagle a second back (or concurrently move Bones, Bamba or Porter, assuming the latter two are enough to get under the LT).

Maxi may not be as good as he used too, and is also always injured, but does give them an expiring ballast to use in the summer or next year for a move while giving 5 games of action this year

This trade has us moving from 31 + 34 to 23, which is fair on paper. Any chance we could sneak Nick Richards in here? surely one of these three teams could use the ~ 50th best center in the league?

My take on Banton is he is tradable in one of these 3 scenarios:
1. As sweetener or for salary purposes in a larger deal
2. Multiple 2nds are offered for him
3. It is draft night and Blazers have a specific target in the 2nd round, then they should trade him for only 1 2nd. But don’t trade him for 1 2nd now and hope there is a target worth it.
Edit: I somehow didn’t know Banton was expiring. So 1 2nd is fine IF Portland has no plans to re-sign him. But if he is expected to remain cheap, I’m on board with Portland re-signing him over trading him for a 2nd.

Mavs would rather have an empty roster spot for buyout signing than Banton, and they don't have the extra roster spot to begin with, the 2nd that's going to the Blazers should go to the Clips.
