Anyone pencilling Ochai in long term as a starter needs to raise their standards.

He’s a fine player coming off the bench but if he’s your starter, you’re in trouble.

a starting caliber player can't be missing 1 free layup once a game. lol. He's a good find at this point who could maybe give you 10-14 minutes off the bench depending on how he's playing.

I also agree that Dick should be our 6th man. Doesn't mean he has to create himself or anything, or even that he cant play with the main starters a lot, but I think there is not enough ball and I prefer IQ/RJ/Barnes to shoot it over Dick.

IQ /
Ochai / Walter
RJ / Dick
Barnes /
Poelt

Is a decent basis to work off of. Draft whoever the BPA is, and work from there.

If you're worried about shot volume, doesn't RJ make that issue worse?

Barrett should be coming off the bench IF we were trying to win. But we're not, so it won't matter. Keep upping his value and let's find a trade partner down the line.

Sure, but RJ is a better player so you bench Dick.

The idea is we can’t fit 4 score first guys in one lineup.

Yup.

Also, there was also some.very obvious chemistry between Barrett/ IQ last seaaon from.playing in.NY together. At this point RJ is a much better playmaker than Gradey & will do a much better job of finding IQ (& Barnes) for open/ easy shots..

For sure you hope to find a better version of Ochai, pushing him to the bench. But he is also very good at what he is asked to do...play defense and make 3's.

Yeah any team would love to have a guy like Ochai starting.

He would be starting on most teams in the league right now.

OKC starts Dort, CLE starts Okoro. Ochai is the same player

Some guys only get 30 minutes a game on bad teams. He's getting those minutes, because we suck.

Nesmith is another.

It's actually OK to have a guy who spends his energy more on defense....but then can hit open 3's.

I mention pushing him to the bench...like if we had another OG....a bigger better option....that would be ideal.

But as we know, there is a massive cap difference too

lol compare Ochai to Dort?

He’s actually having a more efficient season than Dort ever has.

Why do we overrate other teams players so much?

Do you think Ochai comes close to this level of defense?

How do you keep a straight face comparing offensive efficiency of 2 players known for their defense?

You start dick and rj because they are your best players and you want to keep Ochai value low so you can sign him for a small reasonable contract. Grady becomes the last option and ends up in the corner and next year we move him to the bench and sign him for cheaper.

On a really good team IQ, RJ would be coming off the bench with Grady and Ochai fighting for a few regular season minutes.

Guess we shouldn't be surprised : first round allstar voting - no raptor in top 10.... forward or guard...

Can't remember last time a raptor was not on any list?

Because there’s 2 sides to the floor.

Dort is better on one end, Ochai on the other (and IMO, the defensive gap isn’t as big as you are making it out to be).

Posting videos like that is hilarious though. I can go find a Gary Trent jr defensive video from his time in Portland to which makes him look like an all league defender

Dort has received numerous votes for All-Defensive teams for 3 consecutive years.
Dame has called him the best lockdown defender in the league.
LeBron said just a few months ago on his pod with JJ about Dort "I know I can't f***k around when he's on me".
The Athletic players poll last year, Dort was voted the 2nd best defender behind Jrue.
Mikal Bridges has also sung his praises and said Dort should be All-Defensive every year.

Who is overrating Dort?

I gotta be clear, I like Dort, but just because you are not as good as Dort on one side of the ball doesn't mean you cant also be good
