Can Riley just reverse course after going public saying Miami won't trade Butler?

Can Jimmy hold up his word? You know, play hard, win, that good stuff. I know its hard for you to remain objective as a player-first fan

He wouldnt be running the offense if he’s off the ball for one

He’s excellent when he limits his dribble to 3 dribbles or less - and the lesser the better

And the idea he’s been the only one good at running the offense this season is false

so who? It's him and Bam and Bam is not a perimeter ballhandler.

It will be Fox, stay tuned.

Yeah. GMs lie all the time. Its part of the job

Maybe reversing things said privately, but for him to go pubic then change course a few weeks later is a really bad look, especially for someone who people seem to respect.

I think Riley sent a shot at Butler through the press on not trading Butler and Butler's decided to up the ante if he wasn't still feeling the effects of being sick.

Don't think that matters much. It was just more of a ""if you want Jimmy stop sending me **** deals". If they get a good deal they will absolutely trade him. The only problem is because of new cba the list of teams that can trade for Jimmy is small. It's basically Suns/GSW unless they want a Lavine?

would Pat rather pay Beal than Butler? because Beal has 2+ player option which is pretty much 3 years.

This, Pat was just silencing the noise

That answer is probably not, he'll say he is but we all know without giving great effort he's not playing to his ability. I never said this part of Butler was something I think is good but to be perfectly honest, everywhere he wanted out from of was because the FO prioritized the younger guys... Chicago, Minnesota, Philly and now... Miami.

Sit his ass and trade him to the highest bidder. I’m sick of this ****, misses massive chunks of every season and then spends 30 other games half assing it at best, that’s not how we operate.

im with u. i loved what jimmy brought to the Heat the last 4 years but this is not a bottom feeding franchise. we had Wade, Lebron,Bosh,Shaq, and Zo. where does he rank on that list to act like a diva and disrupt the team? we only got moral victories and almost championships. lets get the youth movement started

I think when Riley went after him publicly at the EOY conference, it was over. Kinda of a bad feeling to have done what he's done and then have Riley say something like that publicly. It should have been done privately, sadly, I doubt this won't be the last time Riley runs a high-level player out of town.

Pat’s style simply does not work anymore. Pat will always take the head on confrontation approach, but sometimes finesse is needed. Those end of season star player callouts at the press conference have to end.

MettaWorldPanda wrote:ARE YOU WATCHING THIS SPO. PLAY HIM WITH BAM YOU GOON

Some people say their first step drive off the top for the Pacers was killing the defense, and they were right. However, if you have Bam, one of the most versatile defensive big in your team, then have him roaming the perimeter with the likes of Niko, Butler, Herro, and Ware at C. Now Spo you can play that rotational Zone D you love so much, but have the size to actually rebound by committee, I mean even Herro’s instincts is to rebound. Try it Spo!!!!

Ps: since Bam has that size, he doesn’t have to bullrush and foul ala Highsmith and the midgets.

Bam might be the best point of attack defender we have. Ware cleaning up the paint. I can see the vision.

I feel like there's been many times teams have come out publicly and said "we're not trading player X" then a month later they get traded. I'm hoping this is a similar situation, surely the FO sees this too right? Right?

Don’t think we’ll take either of those contracts. The books kinda need to be fixed next year and Beal and LaVine are not going to be worth the stress of being in repeater tax

I haven’t had the chance to watch a single game this season, so I don’t really know what’s going on, other than stats…how is Duncan playing?

They will the next time Riley tries to say something publicly. He should have just leaked that Miami wasn't trading him.

I think Beal's game is a much better fit for Spoelstra's 3pt system.

Soon as I saw the basically less than zero effort I went back to the trade machine. 3 way with GSW and Sac probably works. We have to take back a bad contract though with Fox but there's definitely a foundation where everyone is happy.

Sure, this is true, but Riley is seen differently than other people in other NBA front offices.
