Jimmy is basically going to do what we wanted Dame to do, decrease, depress his value, burn any bridges to get him to his preferred choice.

This is becoming too disruptive now, Pat needs to get this done fast. Now they’re going through it with the other players, Tyler clearly looks very uncomfortable answering those questions

Well, the season was done anyways. I say, let him walk at the end. Financially is the best option.

It's interesting how in a year he's went from wanting to retire in Miami to not wanting to be in Miami. If he were to not be traded, it would be a huge FU if he signed for less to go somewhere else vs Riley thinking he can just force him to take whatever he's willing to give him. That said, I think he's gotta be traded.

He 100 has to be traded. There’s no turning back. Someone spoon fed Ashley that info before the game and Fat Ernny his bag boy cosigned it. Ernny has been right the entire time.

I don't think it's 100% the Riley thing, nor the contract issue, but when Spoelstra came out in training camp saying Butler and Bam need to find their roles in this new offense, we knew that was going to be trouble, Bam's had issues with it and it now seems Butler has issues with it to.

I expect Bam's on the clock too, it may take a year or 2 before the rumblings start, they drafted a 3pt shooting center, Bam is nowhere near a good enough 3pt shooter to place at PF and putting Bam and Ware both on the floor would really clog the lane for this 5-out offense.

50 mil reasons he wont. He will just play out his contract so get ready for one more year of this unless we trade him for pennies.

He and his agent met with front office and got turned down again for extension during the break. It’s over. He needs to be traded to a team that has his bird rights to trade for him. S&T’s with the aprons this offseason are not going to work. It’s tough getting hard capped now

Try to get a young player you want in your core, maybe a draft asset or 2 and the rest needs to be expiring contracts. Miami can have a great amount of cap space in 2 summers if you can get a young core guy who is only on his 2nd or 1st year of his rookie contract, he'll have a low cap hold.

If he got his money, he probably be a bigger part of the offensive scheme. As of now Spoelstra's building the offense basically around 3pt shooters which fit Herro's game. Spoelstra knows Herro's going to be around for a while and Butler could be gone in a year (talking about scheming the offense before the season started and knowing who you're going to have).

Harden was probably kicking himself not forcing the Sixers to trade him hard enough before the offseason came and was forced to opt in. He ended up getting traded after he opted in but not until he held out and acted like a pain in the ass. Ended up signing for 2 years 70 with Clippers

Jimmy is known to burn bridges. When he doesn't get his way, he throws a tantrum to force the team's hand. We always knew this day would come.

I hate that Jimmy’s era with the Heat is coming to an end like this. I’m upset about how it’s ending, but It was a great run. Having said that, I don’t blame him for how he feels. We made those runs on the back and shoulders of Jimmy Butler. He led us to places that we had no business being, like the finals and the eastern finals. Then time after time we have a chance to put another (star) next to him and we either can’t, don’t, or won’t. We had the opportunity to get Kyrie for Kyle Lowry and some fillers to make the money work and we passed. Even worse, it came out that Jimmy wanted that trade to happen. We’ve been going at 80 mph towards this ending for 3 years already. And then to boot, Pat is going to come out and flat out call him out in the press and imply that he has to earn his money, and tell him to shut the hell up if he isn’t playing. It was over the second Pat went public.

At this point, we are in a Mexican standoff. Jimmy isn’t going to give in because he wants his money and we can’t give in as a franchise because of the bad precedent.

To be clear, I love Jimmy, but my loyalty is to the team. Sympathize with his position, as I might, he still has to go, sooner rather than later.

This is the way. About half of Butler’s salary needs to be expiring’s brought back.

He didn't burn bridges in Chicago or Philly. He did in Minnesota and might be doing that in Miami.

Why would one of those players want to come here at the expense of losing millions on the table? The game has changed. If one is banking on free agency, you will get the PG-13 of the world. Jimmy took us to two finals and we dont want to pay him, what free agent honestly will turn down millions to come here, just saying the quite part out loud.

Return to Miami Heat
